[USS Chimera] SD: 240906.20 Joint Duty Log, Capt. Cropa Rojac/MCapt. Anya Xerxes, CO/FOCO

[Ready Room - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

Anya pressed the chime and entered the doorway "Captain Xerxes reporting as ordered Captain."  She gave a stiff salute and was perhaps a bit anxious about what was to come.  Not necessarily about her actions themselves but about the procurement of the 'Puppetmaster' programme itself.

The Captain stood and returned the salute when he saw it was his Squadron Commander at the door. "Captain Xerxes," He greeted her, "please have a seat." He gestured to the seat in front of his desk, and then moved to take his own as she approached. "We have much to discuss. Would you care for a beverage?" He offered in hospitality.

She took the proffered seat and shook her head "No thank you Captain on the drink and yes I think we do have a lot to discuss."  {I'll bet it won't start with the top agenda}.

Once the Captain receive his own beverage from the replicator behind his desk his swiveled in his chair back toward Captain Xerxes. Before he took a sip of his coffee he asked for a brief mission report. "I read your initial report, Captain." He said. "But if you would clarify some points for me. What were the Breen defenses like around the base?"

"Technology wise hard to tell sensors don't work very well down in the soup but if I had to guess more of the same that was on Antigonis possibly with a minor edge in firepower.  What was interesting though was the numbers and positioning of the defenses.  The anti-air and anti-orbital weapons were too numerous and positioned oddly.  It seemed like whoever planned out the defenses wasn't used to how to set them up and each individual weapons value nor were important buildings more heavily guarded.  Point in case the base defences primary control room didn't have any short range anti-air artillary surrounding it.   It's more of a hunch than anything solid but the defenses may have been arranged symbolically, I've got my guys running checks against anything in the archaeology and anthropology databases."   Anya replied.

Rojac didn't say anything at first, but only nodded in acknowledgment. After a moment or two he looked back up from the top of his desk and lowered his hands into his lap. "Have them look in the direction of the Sitiva site, Captain." Rojac said. After a pause he elaborated. "The latest report from the studies on the alien held on UNITY show that remarkably similar images of the creatures have appeared on the murals along the walls of the ruins. DNA tests are underway to conclusively link them to the site."

"Sitiva...that's well within Federation borders.  If they have a legitimate claim that could explain their willingness to side with the Romulans and Breen and also substantiates the information given by Ambassador Alecto regarding the alien on Narendra.  Do the murals give any specific information on the aliens themselves?" Anya asked.

"The inscriptions along the walls describe these creatures in a mysterious way." Rojac said. "The translator converts the script to call them 'Muhareem' or 'the Whisperers'. They believe Sativa to be a sacred site. Which should make it a prime place to study the symbology."

"I'll pass on any information to science that my guys find and they can research it further...who would have thought that I of all people would miss Chimera-B's Cultural Anthropology Lab?"  Anya quipped.

Rojac put his arms atop the desk and leaned forward. "So tell me about the scorpion squadron, Captain. I've read some troubling reports. I'm not complaining about the results; I'm just worried about what Mr. Lanner has described as an 'Erassian Program' that took over the craft at the last crucial moments of the dogfight." He paused a beat. "What is it and how did it get there?"

"Each type of Erassian Alliance Military Ship is designed to fufil just two primary roles unlike their counterparts in the Federation which try to specialise in everything.  The Intelligence Gathering Warships (IGWs) specialise in Stealthed Reconnaisance and collecting Signals Intelligence.  The Starfighter Carrier Warships (SCWs) specialise in providing Forward Command & Control plus large scale Fighter & Bomber Launch Facilities. The Destroyer Class Warships (DCWs) specialise in Stealthed Ambush and being able to provide Heavy Forward Defense to blunt enemy attacks before they reach the more valuable Cruisers and Carriers.  Finally the Cruiser Class Warships (CCWs) specialise in providing extensive Short and Medium Range Defenses for the Carriers plus Long Range Artillery Support for forward units."  Anya paused.

Thank you for the lesson in Erassian ship design." Rojac smirked, then gestured with his hand. "Please, continue."

Anya continued "The problem arose just over thirty years ago when the Alliance started to bring in the first of the Fourth Generation Cruisers.  At that point the range of the missiles far outstripped the ability of the Cruiser's sensors to accurately aim them.  Two solutions were floated both of which are in operation to this day.  The first option was to create autonomous weapons that once given the general coordinates would search, prioritize and destroy targets.  That gave rise to the T.H.U.D's, Drone Interceptors, Hive Bombs or {C.F's as they're known amongst pilots} and numerous other highly effective weapons.  The second solution was to use the sensors of the forward units themselves to provide precise coordinates essentially the same principle as the ODA teams on the surface of Canna III lazing the Anti-Proton Towers for my Lancers.  Now when it came to linking the Cruiser's Artillery with fighters they had a problem, fighter movement proved too unpredictable to utilize the system safely.  Fast forward to years later and I'm designing the AX-02 Lancer dealing with penny pinching bureaucrats constantly complaining about the Lancer Project taking too much resources, requiring too much classified research access and being run by someone of what they considered to be a lesser background.  Any request for further resources to develop better anti-ship weaponry was turned down without even looking over the proposals.  In turn I looked at creating a system to allow sensor data to be channeled from the Lancers on the frontline to bombers or capital ships further away to allow them to make shots beyond standard torpedo targeting range,  the more I looked at the system the more I became sure I could get it to work for anti-fighter attacks.  How then to overcome the problem of unpredictable fighter movement?  Simple, make it predictable."

Rojac smirked and leaned back into his chair. It was obvious that Xerxes was into this development of technology, and he wondered if she wold have been better off with a job at R&D. But then he thought she might go crazy without being able to shoot down a few Romulan fighters every now and then. And she might end up shooting the other scientists instead, he thought.

"The still unfinished programme is called 'Puppetmaster'.  To make Puppetmaster you take one blank Last Generation Military Grade Erassian Pilot Support AI illegally obtained on the black market, reprogram it with hive behavioral functionality developed in the Federation by scientists studying the Borg whilst removing any spyware then add in parameters for the craft and weaponry along with control codes for the craft then install it into a state of the art fighters with an advanced computer core and bio-neural gel circuitry.  Puppetmaster is set up to create precise positional and timing conditions which allow for missiles to be deployed to exact coordinates without having to get a sensor lock on the enemy whilst simultaneusly ensuring the enemy is lured into those exact coordinates and allied units are not.  Puppetmaster only acts to create the desired scenario when given an executive order and not at any other time.  Contrary to what Lieutenant Lanner thinks it's not an Erassian Programme, in reality its about as Erassian as the Lancers themselves are...one minor component and a lot of inspiration."  Anya shrugged as she said the last bit.

"I can understand Mr. Lanner's reservations though, Captain, when the emblem for the Erassian Alliance flashes on his screen and he no longer has control of his craft." Again, Rojac rested his arms atop his desk - he just couldn't find a comfortable position. He must've been sitting in his office too long. "So what about the Scorpions made you decide to use this program?"

Anya nodded at the prompt "The appearance of the Scorpion II's within the Alliance was to be expected.  It fits in with expected developments after the Romulans deployed their new Assault Fighters against us.  What was surprising was how advanced the Scorpion II really is and how good the Romulan Pilots were.  In fact they were too good which was why I gave them a Collington test.  That squadron was recieving remote telepathic guidance from somewhere though judging by the timing and the distance I'd say unlikely to be from the planet, more likely there was another Muhareem or something similar on board one of those troop transports.  That was another reason I implomented Puppetmaster...you can't telepathically read a machine."

"Another Muhareem..." Rojac almost whispered. "Those damn things are turning up everywhere. Have you informed anyone else of these suspicions?"

"No Sir, I want to see if we can get my suspicions verified independently."  Anya replied.

"Then we need to gt on the line with Colonel Hendricks as soon as possible. Preferably before his people board the disabled troop transports." Rojac said, quickly swiveling toward the communications console on the wall behind him. LtCmdr Montesque's face appeared on the screen. +Yes, Captain?+

"Mr. Montesque, get me a secure line to Colonel Hendricks." Rojac ordered.

+One moment, sir+ The communications officer replied before disappearing off the screen. Rojac turned around once more to face Anya. "Command is going to want to review this program once we get back to UNITY. Make a copy, and put it on an isolinear chip to present to when we arrive. And find some legal counsel." Rojac said. "I trust you, Captain, but you know as well as I that there are some in Starfleet that doubt your allegiance. I'll do what I can to protect you on my end, but you'll need a lawyer."

"I'll consider who to obtain for legal advice.  Unfortunately there's no such thing as a lawyer I trust."  She said.  Anya knew what the standard response Prometheus would adapt but they would probably wait till the Starfleet ships departed.  Even now the Alliance doubted the Federation  had the stomach to do what was necessary to win the war.

"Send me a copy of the program and your report before we dock." Rojac said.

"Aye Captain" Came the swift reply.

+Captain,+ Montesque's face appeared behind the Captain on the monitor. +I have him.+

"Patch him through." Rojac replied. As the screen went blank he looked back to Xerxes, "You're dismissed, Captain."

Anya snapped a salute, performed an about turn and exited the room.

"Colonel Hendricks," Rojac said as the door shut behind her, "I have some troubling news for you."

= Padassa Trading Station - Quorum Space (Romulan Annexed) =

The time passed slowly and Liev didnt return.
At one point there were sounds of movement outside and Rangi
had jumped to her feet expecting the door to open but it
didnt.
She stood next to it,her head turned to one side as she
leaned against it listening.
There were voices though some distance away but she couldnt
make out what they said and after half a minute, they faded
away.

Rangi gave up listening and returned to the small platform
where she sat down and leaned back against the wall where
despite her uncomfortable position and worrying thoughts,
she fell into a fitful sleep.
It was broken when, without warning, the door opened and
Rangi, regaining her senses, saw three figures.

A female Romulan entered and looked disdainfully at Rangi.
"Get up," she said brusquely and the guards didn't hesitate
to help Rangi to her feet.

They grasped her arms and began to move towards the door,
the female standing to one side as they passed through.
"Where are you taking me?" Rangi demanded, casting a look
over her shoulder but following the female as she walked
past.

"Interrogation," the Romulan replied. "But first, medical
services."

The guards followed the woman, propelling Rangi along the
corridor at a fast pace.

"Where is my son?" she asked. " What have you done with
him?" but none of them answered and she succeeded only in
having the guards tighten their hold when she tried to
struggle.

They came to the end of the corridor and a small turbo lift
which decended one floor. When they emerged, it was only a
short distance to a double door which the woman opened and
stood aside as before until Rangi and the guards were safely
inside.

The room was brightly lit and obviously a clinical room of
some sort. In the centre of it stood a padded chair with
restraining straps on the arms and legs and Rangi knew her
fears were justified.

"Secure her," the woman said and the guards pulled Rangi
towards the chair.

Her struggles were in vain and although she resisted as best
as could, her strength was nothing compared to the two
Romulans. They lifted her onto the chair where the
restraints were quickly attached. One of the guards pressed
his hand against her neck, forcing her head back and a metal
band clicked into place under her jaw  so tightly that she
had trouble breathing.

When she was successfully strapped in, the Romulan woman
raised the chair upwards. She moved behind the chair and
swabbed the base of Rangi's neck with a liquid that stung
slightly through an opening in headrest. Just then the voice
of a Romulan manned called the woman and there was an
audible sigh as she put the equipment she was holding back
onto the tray with a clang.

"I'll return shortly," she said to Rangi and then addressed
the two guards in Rihannsu before leaving the room.

Rangi flexed her limbs straining them against the straps but
she could not move and her head too was pinned imobile to
the chair. From the corner of her eye she could see part of
the metal tray and some of the equipment it held.

"Please.." she said in an almost whisper and one guard said
something to the other who laughed then stepped forward to
the trolley.

He pushed it forward a little so that she could see the
intruments fully. In the centre of the tray was an exact
copy of the device she had seen implanted into Liev's neck.

[USS Chimera] SD 240906.20 | Quorum Space | Back Log, Nicolas Harker & Martin Guzman

OOC: This is a back log... it takes place before Muma's log in which Shane is contacted on the Qashqai by Harker.

= Padassa Trading Station - Quorum Space (Romulan Annexed) =

Martin knelt on the window seat and gazed out but there was nothing to see and he sighed. He was getting bored and climbing down from the seat, he wandered across the room to the computer.

Harker had brought him to the room after their meal was finished, explaining that Martin was to have a room of his own. Harker spoke as though that was an exciting thing and had promised Martin that there was something really good waiting there. It turned out to be nothing more than a computer with a few games.

Harker had seemed very enthusiastic about it and had offered to play a game, challenging Martin. The game was simple and, Martin thought, somewhat childish. He had won every level though he suspected that Harker had allowed him to win for the man had made some silly mistakes and had, Martin thought, feigned surprise that he had been beaten once again and showered the child in praise.

Now Martin sat down at the terminal and switched it on. He ignored the game that Harker had been so keen on and scrolled through the list available. A smile spread across his face and he selected a new one.

A few minutes later Nicolas peered into the room and found Martin sitting at the terminal. "Hello, Martin," he said as he greeted the little boy. "Are you enjoying yourself?"

Martin looked over his shoulder. "I'm playing this." he said, returning his attention to the screen when he saw that Harker was alone.

"What is it that you've found there," Harker asked as he came closer.

Martin paused the game and as Harker leaned down to look closely at the game, Martin saw him frown. "When is mummy coming?" he demanded. " I want to see her."

"Mummy is busy talking with some people at the moment," Nicolas explained. "Maybe she can come visit after she's done."  Looking closer at the game, he asked, "Is that the Starship Simulator?"

Martin scowled for this was not the answer he wanted. At home, even when Rangi was very busy, she always had time to see him or speak to him at least, no matter what else demanded her time. He glanced back at the screen where a Starship was frozen in the act of firing an array of photon torpedos.

"That's quite a difficult game," Harker said, rubbing his chin. "I  used to love playing it when I was your age." There was an interruption as the door opened and a Romulan entered, wishing
to speak to Nicolas. "I'll be right back," he said to Martin.

The child suffered the indignity of having his head patted by simply hunching his shoulders and when Harker walked away, Martin continued the game, successfully hitting the enemy ship but not enough to destroy it. With great concentration he tapped in a persuit course and was rewarded by getting the ship back in his sight.

A few moments later Nicolas returned and looked at Martin. "How would you like to go for a trip in a real starship? You can sit with me on the bridge," he coaxed.

Martin swivelled round on his chair, forgetting to pause the game. " A real ship?" he asked guardedly. " ..you mean like my Daddys?" he added as sounds of destruction sounded from the game.

"Yes... a real ship," Nicolas said, an eery smile forming in the corners of his mouth.

Martin glanced back at the screen, now full of spinning debris.

"...and I can sit in the XO place?" he asked looking back at Harker who nodded. Martin considered it then slid down off his chair. " Ok" he said.

He held out his hand to Martin. "Come, I'll take you."

[USS Chimera] Log

Boaz went to engineering as he continued to think about Lucy.  He talked with the engineering crew and got lots of information to take back to Bajor for their engineering library.  Then he found the acting chief engineer.

They talked for a couple of hours and then Boaz finally got him to take him on the floor to look at some of the new improvements.  Having garnered about all he could get Boaz thanked the engineer for being so helpful.

As he was leaving Boaz tripped over a cable that someone had placed across the floor.  He fell and hit his head.  A few minutes later, as he was coming to, someone saw him and went over to ask if he was ok.  "Sure."  He got up but passed out again.  The engineer tapped his comm badge, "George to sickbay.  We have an injury down here.  It's probably minor but should be looked at.  Transport Teal Boaz directly to sickbay."  He watched as Boaz shimmered away.

Boaz woke up again, but in sickbay.  His head hurt and he was on a bio bed.  "Why am I here?" he asked as he tried to get up.  Then the noises and pain in his head told him why.  He yelled out, "NURSE!!" as he passed out again.

[USS Chimera] SD 240906.18 Joint Duty Log, Capt Cropa Rojac CO & Lt JG Gustav Kroitzer Act. CEO

Paul Howorth <palsh963@gmail.com> wrote to chimera@ucip.org:

=/\= Cargo Bay 1 – USS Chimera =/\=

Gustav and his small team of engineers were in their containment suits
while working in the cargo bay around the biological weapons.

He was overseeing the installation of a secure cargo container when
his comms badge went off.

+Rojac to Kroitzer.+ The Captain's voice said over the line.

+taps+ Kroitzer here.+

+Mr. Kroitzer, can you report to the Ready Room at you leisure? We
have something to discuss.+

+taps+ Aye sir I'll make my way there after I go through Decontamination.+

+Very well. Rojac out.+

Gustav made his way to hurriedly constructed decontamination booth
that had been set-up at the entrance of the cargo bay and started the
slow procedure of scrubbing down the containment suit he was wearing
before going through medical scanners to make sure that no trace of
bio matter was left on his clothing, after that was done he headed to
the bridge and the captains ready room.

He pressed the button and was called in.

[Ready Room - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

"Mr. Kroitzer, good to see you." Rojac stood to greet his CEO as he
entered the room. "Have a seat."

"Aye sir" Gustav said having a rough idea what this meeting is about.

Rojac sat back in his chair and folded his arms across his chest.
"Tell me about your experiences aboard the Rapier and Magellan. I here
you made some valiant efforts."

"Just doing my duty sir," he responded.

"I don't think space walking in the middle of a battle with Romulan
Warbirds is on a CEO's job description." Rojac remarked wit his
trademark smirk.

"I was requested to make repairs to circuitry leading to the shield
emitters around the bridge portion of the saucer section as there was
a major drop in shield power in that area, this wasn't able to be
sorted from inside the ship so I had to leave the ship and effect
repairs from outside" he explained

Rojac chuckled and muttered, "above and beyond." He looked up,
smiling. "Well it was either one very brave, or one very stupid,
action Mr. Kroitzer. But it paid off. Well done. I'm submitting a
reward request to command for you actions aboard the Magellan. I just
wanted you to know."

Surprised at what was just said Gustav smiled and said "thank you sir"

"Lieutenant" Rojac began, "do you remember what I said last time you
sat in that chair?"

Thinking back Kroitzer remembered, "I think it was about me not
getting a promotion sir"

"It was." Rojac admitted. "And I challenged you to improve your
administrative and decision making skills. And though your decision to
make that spacewalk may be questionable at the outset, upon further
inspection it is revealed to have been a valiant and selfless act to
continue on the mission. Had you not made those repairs, the
Magellan's bridge could have been destroyed and easily overwhelmed by
the Romulan forces present." Rojac smiled, "Good work, Lieutenant."

"Thank you sir"

"There will be an awards ceremony the day after our arrival on UNITY,
Mr. Kroitzer. You need to be there in formal attire. Medals and
everything. 1800 hours." Rojac told the young officer. "And bring
young Ms. Hopeler with you."

"Aye sir… What time will the ceremony be at?" Gustav questioned.

"1800, Lieutenant." Rojac smiled. "Now get back to those biological weapons."

"Aye sir" Gustav said as he saluted the captain before leaving with a
big grin on his face.

[USS Chimera] SD 240906.18 || Senior Officer's Debriefing || Capt Rojac ||

[Conference Room - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

Captain Cropa Rojac was the last to arrive in the room of the senior staff assembled. His yeoman, Crewman Bio, handed him a padd as he entered before she exited the room. Rojac glanced over it as he approached the table and placed the padd before him. He continued to stand as he addressed the officers.

"Good work all of you." He started out by saying. "Two trips through the Grand Banks Nebula, negotiations with a General whose temper many of us know first hand, the Battle of Canna III, and the successful capture of another Breen base. Really, were getting good at this." He smiled. The room echoed with slight chuckles, though the usual stoic faces remained rigid in Captain Xerxes and Lieutenant Jardan.

"I would like to thank Commander Tretrzelewska, Commander Rice, and Lieutenant Kroitzer for the efforts aboard the Rapier and Magellan when they were separated from us. From the glowing reports Captain Mayo has forwarded me from his ship, you all performed admirably. Thank you for representing the ship so well." The Captain said. The said officers nodded in acknowledgement.

"Well," He began his long diatribe he had prepared for this occasion, "our mission has been successful. We negotiated passage into Erassian Space. We determined the destination of the suspicious transmissions, and we captured the suspect base at the receiving end. In the process we found Romulan biological weapons that violate an interstellar treaty and have captured another of the Mysterious Aliens and have turned it over to Erassian control.

"We have received new orders from UNITY. We are to return to UNITY to transfer the Romulan and Breen prisoners we have acquired in our operations. After that we have two weeks off of official starship duty. But we won't have much time to relax." He quickly added the last part, disappointing the relived faces that appeared after the mention of R&R.

"Mr. Jardan," Rojac addressed the Chief of Security, "you are to safely oversee the transfer of prisoners from now until we return to UNITY. From that point, you will be transferred to a new position." Rojac said. Several puzzled faces looked up at him. "Fort Bragg has deemed it necessary to transfer you to their First Expeditionary Ground Force division, no doubt due to your experience in the Dominion War. You will be placed in charge of an entire platoon. Congratulations." He added. "When we arrive at UNITY, you will transfer your department to Marine Captain Channer Davis."

"Mr. Kroizter, the safe containment of the biological weapons aboard will be your department's top priority." Rojac ordered the young Chief Engineer. "I want any many failsafe's on those systems as you can reasonably apply. And then I want you to apply more." The Captain smiled. "Ms. Reese, you will oversee the transfer of the cargo to authorities on UNITY."

"Dr. Rice, continue the treatment of the freighter passengers in the containment wards set-up in the cargo bays." Rojac said. "Level 6 containment protocols are authorized. Have armed guards stationed at all entrances." The Doctor nodded in acknowledgement. "Commander Wellington, offer those affected what services you can provide. I doubt phyical ailments are all they are suffering from. Neither the Breen or Romulans are known for their hospitality."

"Mr. Zerphimi," Rojac began, "Captain Xerxes is going to forward you some data she collected on the layout of the Breen base. I want your archeologists to cross reference it with any data in our database and prepare a report for Commander Terek when we arrive at UNITY." He looked over to Xerxes, "You already know your orders, Captain."

"Ms. Dior," Rojac looked to his Chief Helm Officer, "Set a course back to UNITY for departure in four hours. But take us around the Grand Banks this time. Time is not of the essence at the moment." She nodded, "At that time, I want all Beta shift personnel at their stations ready for departure."

Rojac stood. "Captain Mayo and the Magellan will return tot he Rapier and tow her back to UNITY. Commander Typhon and the Eagle will follow us home. Commander Ohmsford is turning over command of the Operations at Canna III to Colonel Hendricks of the Prometheus, and more Erassian reinforcement are inbound." He gripped the back of his chair, "Again, great work all of you.   Now, to your stations. Dismissed."

====== Bridge, USS Qashqai ======

Shane still felt a bit weak after his poisonous experience,
but he was sitting in his CO's chair erected like an 18
years old cadet. Bridge of the defiant class ship was very
small, hardly one quarter of the spacious OPS area on UNITY,
but the Captain's area was surprisingly comfort
nonetheless. He was studying the message send by Commander
Terek from UNITY and thinking hard about it.

The first surprising fact was that the massage was heavily
encrypted. All SSF messages were highly encrypted by
standard, but this one was sealed that only Shane's code
could open the message. Adding pain to injury – the
content of the message was a puzzle as well. It was a square
with 12 rows and 12 columns, full of numbers. No explanation
or clues given. It was pure luck that Shane knew Terek for
long years and that he knew what "should" be in the
message. Shane was expecting space coordinates of Rangi's
message origin.

This was a rescue mission and therefore only minimal science
staff was on board, so Shane took the challenge to decode
the message himself. He was a seasoned commanding officer,
decorated with many medals and having years of service … a
task like this should be peanuts.

He failed.

After half an hour spend trying to decode the message, Shane
was rather disappointed by the lack of success. He ruffled
his hair and tried to focus on those numbers once again. It
seemed fitting to take the diagonal axis as starting point.
That gave Shane 12 numbers. Terek was supposed to send him
space coordinates. Space coordinates came in X,Y,Z axis
format – that are three numbers. But what the other nine
numbers mean? Trying to take-and-try approach was of no
success. The first three numbers were just empty space near
Earth, other three groups of numbers WERE real space
objects, but the first was a planet in Klingon space, the
second was a space station in gamma quadrant and the last
one was a supernova deep in Breen space.

It just gave no sense!

Finally Shane remembered the very basic information about
space navigation: "Whereas bearings and headings use polar
co-ordiantes, galactic co-ordinates use Cartesian
co-ordinates. The corresponding concept in navigation on a
planet's surface is that of latitude and longitude. Of
course, there are three co-ordinates in space, and so
galactic co-ordinates are given in an (X, Y, Z) format. By
convention, the galactic centre is used as the origin (0, 0,
0) for galactic co-ordinates, and the co-ordinate axes are
aligned as follows."

A thought stroke his mind suddenly: {What if it's NOT the
galactic centre used as the 0,0,0 point?} Now the path was
clear ahead. He needed THREE new points for the 0,0,0 point
and where he should get them? Right … from Terek's
message! He substituted the three galactic coordinates into
the matrix and added the fourth number (previously pointing
to nowhere) and voila! He's got a target. Padassa system
– a certain outpost station.

Shane was just about to order a new course, when he's been
interrupted by the OPS officer: "Commodore, we have an
incoming transmission … addressed personally for you".

Shane looked at the OPS officer and frowned: "Who is
sending the transmission, Lieutenant?"

The OPS officer tapped his panel and replied: "Some
Nicolas Harker, sir"

Shane opened his eyes WIDE.

[USS Chimera] SD 240906.17: SB Unity: Personal log.Lucy Fleming / Boaz Teal

*** SB Unity ***

Boaz enjoyed their walk. They chatted and he got to know a
little bit about her as they walked. He asked questions
about things he saw that appeared new to him.

Arriving at the viewing area he was amazed at some of the
advances starfleet had made. Her scent was intoxicating as
well as her being beautiful. He hoped that she didn't notice
him looking at her so much, but knew better. He had so many
questions about what things were out in the bay they were
looking at.

Their route had taken them half way around the Promenade
with its lively assortment of shops, restaurants and 'live'
entertainment. They stopped once or twice when a particular
thing caught Boaz' attention but although he seemed
interested in everything, Lucy had the distinct impression
that he looked at her just as often as at anything they
passed.

This feeling grew stronger when they went into the sections
containing the multitude of holodecks and the sports
complexes. There were a number of places which were 'off
limits' and Lucy explained that he would need the Commodores
permission to enter any, or, for the time being, the XOs.

"So tell me what you do." she said, " I dont know much
about you at all except that you're married."

He looked directly into her eyes. "Actually, that should
be married on paper We haven't been in the same bed in over
a year. I am the commandant of the Bajoran militia. And an
ambassador to Starfleet. I'm not here officially, just
visiting. Unless I find a reason to stay. I just wanted to
see what new stuff is available. Is m y being married on
paper a bad thing?" He wondered what she would do if he
invited her into a holodeck. "Did you say you're single?"

Lucy had not expected him to hold such high position for
she had thought he would say he was an engineer of some sort
and his reply took her by surprise.

"Yes I did." she replied to his last question first but
moved away from him by taking a few paces forward to stand
in front of the viewing window. She looked out at the scene
without really taking any of it in. Her eyes travelled over
the ships in repair and the ones being built and the little
flotillas of worker bees that travelled back and forth but
when he came to stand beside her she turned her head to him
and said: "The state of your marriage isn't really any of my
business is it and perhaps it's better if you don't tell me
such personal things."

Her smell was starting to intoxicate him. He thought to
himself, ~she's so sexy~ "Sorry, I didn't mean to offend
you. Looks like they are about done with this one." Then
pointing at something he thought was strange, "What are
they doing there?" As he leaned to look closer his shoulder
accidentally touched hers.

"I...have no idea." Lucy replied "..I'm not much into ship
building." She looked out at the craft he pointed to and in
that moment, couldn't have cared one iota if it had been a
Romulan Warbird decloaking. S he turned her head slightly to
look at him.

When she was quiet he noticed she hadn't moved away and was
looking at him. He turned to look at her and saw deep
beautiful eyes, lush lips and a longing for something.

Quite unexpectedly, even for him, he leaned over and planted
a quick kiss on her lips. Just a brushing of their lips
actually. Then he jerked back, "I'm sorry. I was too
forward. I just couldn't resist your beautiful face. I've
seen enough here. Maybe I should escort you back to the
restaurant where we met and then I'll be on my way to my
quarters."

Taken aback by his action she felt a rush of colour tinge
her cheeks and she took a step back. "Yes." she said and
glancing out at the shipyard, sought for inspiration as to
what to say. "If..if you need to anything else then you'll
have to speak to the Commodore when he returns or to the new
XO..Trent Rodgers."

Remeeting his gaze she forced a small smile. " Shall we?"
she suggested gestering towards the way they had come.

He walked with her to the restaurant and he got her relaxed
again and chatting a little. Once they arrived he looked at
her with sadness in his eyes. "I hope I haven't offended you
too much. I'd like to talk with you again. I need to talk
with engineering and then I'm going back to Bajor. At least
for a while. I will be back to this station, it's nice here.
The people are nice as well, even if I was out of line.
Sorry."

"You just...took me by surprise. It's me who should say
sorry." she replied and then after a second or so, held out
her hand. " I really have enjoyed showing you around. Have a
safe journey."

He took her hand and kissed the back of it in a gentlemanly
fashion. "You really are a sweet lady. I'll contact you
when I return. Bye." Then he turned away and headed for
Engineering. He stopped at a computer terminal by the
turbolift. "Computer, anything Lucy Fleming orders today to
eat or drink is on my tab. Also, put a flower on her desk
when she goes in to work. No card this time."

Lucy sat down at an empty table and watched Boaz disappear
into the crowd. A waiter arrived and asked if he could get
her something and soon returned with the black coffee she
requested but staring into the cup,she found she didn't want
it after all.

[USS Chimera] SD 240906.16 || Duty Log || Captain Cropa Rojac ||

[Ready Room - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

The action in the Canna System had, for the most part, settled. And as such, Captain Cropa Rojac turned the bridge over to the Officer of the Watch to retire in his Ready Room. There he would immerse himself in the after-action reports that would no doubt be flooding his inbox in the coming hours.

The effects of the distortion field torpedoes were dissipating, but the Security Teams beamed aboard the freighters already held the ships captive. Again, Tom Jardan and his team had proved their mettle. Rojac was concerned however about the presence of biological weapons on the Breen cargo vessels. Once the munitions were safely aboard in the cargo facilities that the Quartermaster was prepping the Chimera would have to lock them down under high security and transit them to UNITY. All Security Away Teams would have to be placed in decontamination chambers and treated by the Chimera's medical staff as well. It would be a slight inconvenience, he was sure, but it was better than risking a ship-wide pandemic.

Erassian Reinforcements had arrived, escorted by Captain Mayo's USS Magellan and the Chimera's Executive Officer, Chief Engineer, and Acting Chief Medical Officer. They were busy rounding up the Romulan crews aboard the Troop transports the Chimera had disabled, but promised to return Rojac's senior staff members once everything was under control. Rojac could rest more easily, he missed Natalia's calm demeanor - a trait he had come to rely upon in times of stress. He would be happy when she resumed the position to his right once more. And after the lengthy engagement the Chimera had just endured, Rojac really wanted his chief engineer back aboard.

The young Captain, reviewed the incoming reports as they came in - jotting down notes on his personal padd or his final report to Commodore Guzman. Commander Ohmsofrd was no doubt doing something similar in the VIP quarters that had been assigned to him as he came aboard. Either that, or he was coordinating prisoner transfers and the final wrap-up of the Mission Operations.  The majority of the captured Breen and Romulan troops would be turned over to the Erassian Alliance, as they were captured in Erassian space. Even the unidetified alien would be turned over to General Ivanov's fleet - which was fine for Rojac. There was already one of the mysterious beings in stasis in the high security bowels of Starbase UNITY, and having dealt with one before, Rojac was not keen on holding one aboard his ship. They were powerful telepaths, capable of killing with mere thoughts. Hybrids like Ambassador Ayanami would have a better chance at surviving and combating a mental onsalught than the majority of Rojac's crew would. There were a few telepaths aboard, like Commander Wellington, however their abilities were not as weaponized as those of the mysterious being captured by Erassian Special Forces. As far as the young Captain was concerned, the Erassians could have it. Knowing Ivanov, Rojac knew the General would welcome the challenge.

+Montesque to Rojac.+

The Captain's thoughts were interrupted by the transmission from his Communications officer.

"Rojac here." He replied, "What are you doing on duty, Montesque? Gamma shift was ordered to take stations."

+Just wrapping up a few loose ends, sir.+ The frenchman replied over the line. +Incoming communiques from the Magellan. They have finished with the troop transports and are moving in to return our crew members. Shall I forward their reports?+

"Yes. To my ready room , Lieutenant." Rojac answered. "Thank you."

When the reports appeared on the touchscreen embedded in Rojac's desk top, he quickly accessed them and reviewed their contents. He fumed when he read the report about his Chief Engineer making external repairs on the sovereign class's hull during a battle. Though a valiant and brave operation, it was foolhardy and extremely dangerous. Perhaps that is why Mr. Kroitzer earned the nickname Gutz? Rojac mused. Nevertheless, the Captain would have to speak to the Lieutenant when he returned.

Another troubling report came from the Flight Operations department in which an Erassian program had been initiated during a dogfight with a Romulan Scorpion squadron. Though the results of the program turned out in the Lancer Squadron's favor, it rose some security concerns. Why was an Erassian program hidden in the Lancer Squadrons circuitry? Were there more? Have new Federation designs been compromised? Rojac doubted that Marine Captain Xerxes would do anything to compromise her pilots, the Chimera, or Starfleet; but he knew that once he returned to UNITY, command would be breathing down his neck. He wanted to hear Xerxes explanation so that he would be prepared to rebuke the headhunters headed their way. He sent the Captain a request to report to him after the scheduled debriefing of her department.

It took a little over two hours to compile the after action report which he forwarded with haste back to Taskforce Command on UNITY, with a copy sent to Commander Ohmsford. In the downtime between now and their new orders, Rojac set-up a Senior Officer's debriefing. He would be glad to return back to UNITY. An ice cold beer on a stool a tthe Bluenote sounder very appealing right about now.

[USS Chimera] Weekly Sim Report #306 - Summaries & Quotes =/\= USS Chimera NCC 96899-C & SSF First Taskforce

Unity Summary

Giella requested that the USS Detector be sent into Quorum
space in an effort to locate Rangi and the other
captives.Trent was disturbed to learn that many of their
agents had been compromised and fake reports had been sent
in their names. Chisulo seconded Giella's request and Trent
agreed to it with the proviso that contact with enemy ships
be avoided.

Meanwhile Lievs ill treatment continued and Rangi worried
over what Harker might do to Martin.

Trent had major problems with the replicator in his room
which had been arranged by Rick as the only way for him to
talk to his brother.

Lucy received a red rose from Boaz prior to their tour of
the starbase.

Commodore Guzman regained conciousness after narrowly
escaping death by poisoning at the Romulans hands. He
returned to duty, eager to see if there was news of Rangis
location.

[USS Chimera] SD240906.15 Joint Duty Log - MCapt/LtJg COps/DCMO Jade Reese and Nanee Quiocho - "Medical Condition"

=/\= Personal Quarters, USS Chimera C =/\=

After a long double shift Jade was finally back in her quarters deciding to take a shower before she went to bed she headed into the bathroom and started the shower to get the water warm while she undressed. Once she was undressed she noticed a rash starting on her left side of her abdomen she didn't think that much of it assuming that was just irritation from her uniform. Without thinking to much more of the rash she got into the shower and just allowed the warm water to run over her body after fifteen minutes she got out, dried, and got ready for bed.

=/\= Next Morning =/\=

Waking up Jade headed back into the bathroom she turned the shower on and then went to the mirror and turned the water on at the sink to splash some water on her face to wake her up. After that was finished she undressed to go into the shower, but she noticed that the rash spread instead of just the small rash that she had last night it spread all over her abdomen and all over her back. She rushed to turn the shower off and get dressed she then rushed out of her quarters and to the nearest turbolift to get to sickbay. Five minutes later she entered sickbay looking around for a doctor or a nurse or anyone really, "excuse me." Jade said to a passing doctor.

Nanee was on her way to double check that the inventory in the medicine storage room was correct when she heard a voice call out.  She whipped around in the direction from which she heard the voice.  "Yes, Is thee anything I can help you with?"  She was feeling rather well today so she added a smile in hopes of making the crew member feel more welcomed.

"Um.... it might be easier if I show you." Jade said, "well it's a rash of some kind, but it's spreading rapidly." Jade said hoping that they could back to curtain area, so that the doctor could get a better look at the rash.

Nanee replied, "Well, while I'm thinking lets move to a more isolated area..." Nanee could only imagine where the rash might be.  She looked at it this way: she has probably seen worse.  "Has anything in your diet changed recently? Without looking at padd, do you have any allergies?"  Nanee was first thinking of rather the most obvious possibilities then they could move on to the more advance way of thinking.

"Um.... no not really." Jade said taking a second to think, "the only thing is the times I've been eating have changed. Could that cause a rash like this?" She asked she wasn't terrified, but just concerned at the speed that it spread or is spreading. "As for allergies mainly just dust." Jade said.

"No, the time change shouldn't have an affect quite like that...  and a dust allergy reaction wouldn't spread as quickly..." Nanee was thinking, "Have you been exposed to any radiation, you know due to entering, exiting, and re-entering the nebula and what not?"  Nanee was growing even more curious as to the origin of this case.

"Possibly.  I didn't have a check-up after leaving the nebula the first time." Jade said now thinking that might have been a good idea, "also I've been under a lot of stress could that make the rash appear and spread this fast?" Jade asked trying to give the doctor as much information as possible.

"Yes, stress could be a factor... ," Nanee pulled out her tricorder in order to run a full body scan.  Her tricorder should tell her whether or not the Marine Captain had indeed been exposed to radiation or not.  "I'm going to run the tricorder for protocol.  It should tell me if you had contact with any radiation..."

"Alright." Jade said tensing up a little.

Nanee ran the tricorder down the length of Jade's body.  Nanee was thinking of how to  say what she wanted to say when she saw the results of the readings, "Bad news: the rash is due to contact with radiation. Good news: we can resolve this".  Nanee waited for a response.  She sensed that her patient was a little hesitant and nervous.

Jade nodded a little apprehensive learning that the radiation from the nebula did find a way to enter the ship, but glad that the medical staff knew what they were doing.

Nanee cleared her throat and wetted her lips before speaking, "I can give you kelotane administered through a hypospray which should help with any radiation sickness, rash, or even burns that you may be experiencing and then I would have to keep you here for observation..."  Nanee thought that solution sounded reasonable.

Jade didn't like the sound of being monitored seeing that she would need to be on the bridge to prepare the ship for an engagement if one happens. "How long well I have to be monitored?" Jade asked seeing that she really didn't have a choice if she wanted this rash to go away and not let it get any worse.

Nanee stared at amazement.  People these days.  They didn't care much to as the state of their health as long as their duty was carried out.  Nanee didn't appreciate such logic.  She would like to know she was healthy herself before she were to go to save other lives.. "Until we see some change.  If it gets better, you can leave and if not, well we'll just have to see how extensive the damage is then."

Jade nodded she started to feel a little worried about what might happen to her. Jade started to lay down so she was more comfortable and also to allow the doctor to inject the medicine.

<< To be continued..... I'm planning on doing this minor plot log until we get back to Unity or at least out of the nebulae. It may go on for a little bit longer depending on the medical staff and how the logs shape up. >>

[Bridge - Deck One - USS Detector - Leaving Federation Space]

Captain Tedros Chisulo was hard at work underneath the blue operational lights that signified the Detector's cloaked and stealthed status. He had the Detector's top of the line sensors tuned to detect Romulan and Breen fleet movements, and under current settings he would have about a five minute window with which to disappear if detected. When discovered, the Detector possessed a standard Federation cloaking device, but due to her hampered offensive capabilities, Fort Bragg decided to fit her with a high grade cloaking device to prepare her for sensitive intelligence gathering missions. Luckily for all the men, women, and species aboard the vessel today the new cloak had yet to be compromised by Romulan or Breen technology.

"Major," Chisulo called out from his station to the Intelligence Advisor at the CO's chair, "We've just passed into Quorom space."

"What is our ETA, Captain?" Giella asked Chisulo. It seemed strange for her to be sitting in the CO's chair while someone who outranked her twice was following her orders, but when it came to Intel that was sometimes the case.

"I've triangulated Commander Terek's data and estimate arrival in six hours." Chisulo replied.

"What's your assessment of our tactical situation? Are sensors picking up any immediate danger?"

"Sensors are bare, but as we further infiltrate behind the lines, I expect increased levels of Romulan patrols. Probability predicts the destination to be a space station of some sort, and as such there should be increased stellar traffic in the area." Chisulo reported. "We will need to stay alert."

"Agreed," Giella nodded.

"Major," Chisulo began, while waving a tactical officer to take over his station as he approached the Major's chair, " do we have any data on Commodore Guzman's flight path? Or do we simply have to beat him there?" Chisulo asked.

"Our details on his flight plan are limited," Giella replied. "We have a general direction in which he went, but that's about it. I'm having Science work on tracking the Qashqai's warp trail, but they're cloaked and masked quite well. The only way to find out would be to contact them directly, and long range comms would give away both our location and theirs. We continue to our destination unless we find a clear indication of where the Qashqai is."

Chisulo nodded. "Understood." He crossed his arms and stared at the view screen for a moment. "Major, I'm going to report to the torpedo bays to oversee the adaptation of the launchers or the transphasic payload we have acquired."

"Cerainly, Captain." The Major replied. "I would like to be armed when we arrive."

"As would I." Chisulo said. Then he turned on his heel and marched for the turbolift.

[Weapons Control Room - Deck 2 - USS Qashqai]

When the USS Voyager returned from is seven year estrangement from Starfleet in the delta quadrant it brought with it some advanced technology. Metaphasic Shielding, transwarp drive technology, and even transphasic torpedoes. For fear of timeline contamination, however, Starfleet's Temporal Investigations kept the deadly technology under lock and key. It wasn't until major conflicts occured years later that Starfleet overrode TI's concerns and released the ban on the potent new technology. These items were still rare and used sparingly, in an effort to prevent them from falling into enemy hands. They were considered an ace in the hole, last resorts for use in emergency only - or in instances of Federation Security. This mission was one of the instances.

Two key staff members for the primary launch point for Allied attacks in the southern theater of the Federation-Romulan war were being held captive. Their knowledge, if obtained, could compromise Starfleet Operations and give the Romulans and their allies a dangerous edge in the closely fought war. The CO of the SSF's First Taskforce was moving in personally to remedy the situation, and individual who if caught would potentially give the Romulans command codes for Aeran system defenses, Federation Security Grids, Starfleet operations and fleet movement, communication encryption protocals, and a variety of other dangerous intel that could threaten the lifes of millions of starfleet officer - and billions of Federation citizens.

It was because of these instances compiled atop another that had Tedros Chisulo, an esteemed Captain in the SSF outfitting a torpedo launcher like a lowly engineering tech. He placed a hyper spanner  back on the deck plate and picked up his tricorder.

"We're still not getting enough power." He told the Tactical Ensign who was nearby aiding him in his retrofit of the torpedo launchers for their deadly advanced payload. "Go to Engineering and acquire a level IX plasma conduit adapter so we can boost the output."

"Aye sir." The Ensign replied before leaving the room.

Chisulo got up off his back and went to the launcher's open circuitry panel. He reprogrammed the computer for the transphasic torpedo's specifications and used his codes to override the safety protocols that popped up. Transphasic torpedoes still had a few kinks in them. Because of their transphasic properties, they had a 3% chance to short circuit the warp field produced by the launcher and render it useless until the rings could be replaced. The Detector didn't have many launchers, which would turn any confrontation into a highly dangerous one if such a malfunction were to occur. He hoped it wouldn't.

Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org
).

New Cadets are given two (2) weeks upon joining to observe the sim. After the initial observation period, Cadets and other crew are required to post at least one log per week (unless on excused or on LOA).
Promotion is based upon quality and regularity of logging, among other
factors All promotions after Lieutenant Commander require review and
approval by Starfleet Command. For a complete breakdown of the promotion policy, please visit the Chimera's website.

- On Report
-------------------------
Any officer who is Absent Without Leave (0) for two or more consecutive
weeks is considered "On Report." Crewmen on report should email the command staff immediately to explain their absence (too much to do in RL is a fine excuse) and say when they anticipate being able to log again in the future.
The following crewmen are on report:

none.
-------------------------
- Removals/Resignations
-------------------------
The following crew have either resigned or have been dropped due to lack of activity. If they would like a position on the USS Chimera, they will need to reapply.
