[USS Chimera] SD 240905.10 | Quorum Space | Joint Log, Cmdr Summers (1TF Med) & Nicolas Harker

= Padassa Trading Station - Quorum Space (Romulan Annexed) =

"Stand still" Rangi said placing her hand on top of Martins
head in an attempt to stop him moving "...you're wriggling
like a worm on a hook!"

He eyed her momentarily before disappearing beneath the face
cloth that she brandished unmercifully.
He spluttered and as she rubbed his mouth and chin but she
looked pleased with her efforts.
"There.." she said"...that's better...all gone."

Martin stood on tiptoes to look into the mirror and saw for
himself that the blue juice stains had finally been removed.
The only thing blue now, was the nasty bruise on his
forehead. He grinned at Rangis reflection and began to soap
his hands in the wash basin, rubbing them with gusto in the
suds.

Suddenly form the main room, they heard the sound of the
door sliding open and someone entering.
"Who's that?" Martin asked, pausing with his hands still in
the warm water and they both looked towards the door.
" I dont know." Rangi said quietly and handed him the towel
she had been holding. He took it and began to dry his hands
as she moved to the door where she stopped, totally
unprepared by
the figure she saw.

"It's you." she said in a mix of surprise and recognition.

"Commander Summers," Nicolas Harker greeted her where he
stood in front of the doorway, flanked by two Romulan
soldiers. "It's good to see you again. I trust you had a
pleasant journey?"

Rangis lips drew a thin line of displeasure.
"I had no wish to journey here at all as you well know." she
said coldly,
stepping forward into the main room. Martin followed her,
wondering who this person was.

Nicolas frowned. "I'm sorry you feel that way," he said as
if genuinely regretful. "I always had great admiration for
you... a dedicated officer with an impeccable record. Your
medical staff were very friendly and efficient, I remember."

"Your compliments are wasted." Rangi replied. " What do you
want with us?...why have you brought us here?"

"Why don't we go talk a walk," he said, then looked at
Martin for the first time. "Would you like some ice cream?"

Martin gave Rangi a quick glance then looked back towards
Harker.
Although the man was smiling at him, Martin didnt like him,
reasoning that
this was the person who had spoiled the little holiday and
who had, indirectly, been
the cause of him being flung against the wall. Now he stodd
there offering the treat of an icecream.
Martins answer was definate.

"No I don't!" he replied through a scowl.

"Hmmm, no matter," Nicolas replied. He then stood aside and
lifted his arm, indicated for Rangi and Martin to step
outside. Once outside, he fell into step beside them in the
corridor. The starbase was a much different place than most
Federation citizens were used to. Though it was
sophisticated and even somewhat elegant in design, it was
very simplistic and there was very little in the way of
everyday technology onboard. The occasional replicator or
other piece of technology available was clearly Romulan in
origin and did not fit with its surroundings. There were no
automatic doors, no visible computer terminals, no plasma
lighting.

"I'm sure you wonder where you are," Nicolas said. "This is
a Quorum station. They are a group of somewhat... simplistic
races. Quite intelligent, yes, but they believe very
strongly one must not rely on technology. They only use it
when necessary."

Rangi turned her head to look at him when she answered.
"And they use Romulan technology?" she asked in a part
statement part question tone. " ...that's interesting."
She didnt entirely trust anything Harker was saying but she
paid attention, for there could be a chance to find a way of
escape.
Martin clutched her hand and trotted along side, glancing
now and then at the
guards who followed them closely.

"Only because the Romulans force them to," Nicolas
explained. "The Romulans annexed this territory many years
ago and no matter how resourceful they may be, they are
quite attached to their modern technology."

Behind them, the tall Anxinar guard that had previously been
with Nicolas when he met Regina joined the two Romulan
guards who were with them. "Thilmar, I was wondering where
you'd been," Nicolas said as he spotted the guard. "Has
everything been taken care of."

"Yes sir," the Anxinar replied.

Nicolas stopped walking and narrowed his eyes at the man as
if something was wrong. With lightning reflexes, Thilmar
drew a pair of knives and drove them into the spines of the
unsuspecting Romulans. Nicolas pushed Rangi out of the way
and drew his disruptor. He fired, but the beam only scraped
the Anxinar man's side as he reached up and cut into
Harker's upper arm.

"Uahk?!" Nicolas shouted as he stepped back. Thilmar's eyes
were glowing a deep amber and he'd suddenly shortened two
inches, his face also becoming slightly rounder. Harker
didn't hesitate again and fired his disruptor straight into
the man's chest. Thilmar collapsed to the floor and morphed
back into the chameloid Uahk, who had come to seek revenge
for Harker's attempt to kill him.

Nicolas looked at his tattered arm and turned to grab Rangi,
but when he looked in her direction she was gone and instead
a crowd was milling about, blocking his view of exits to
other corridors and rooms.

"Come with us," two tall and spindly figures dressed in
silvery robes said to Rangi and Martin as Harker confronted
Uahk. "You will be safe."

Rangi hesitated but the nearest figure looked at her
steadily then made a gesture that she follow and began to
move into the crowd that was quickly gathering.
"Come on" she said to Martin, making the decision and
holding his hand tightly, pushed her way past the onlookers.

= Elsewhere on the station =

The room was high and was, Rangi thought, probably some
place of worship. It was decorated most beautifully with
wall paintings that reached to the ceiling, itself richly
ornemented. A huge chandelier hung near the centre a blaze
of light above them. Candles glowed along the walls and a
raised platform at one end was hung with heavily embroidered
drapes.

The two robed figures stood a little apart from Rangi and
martin, hands folded in front of them.

"Who are you?" Rangi asked.

"Our names are not important; we are Ruh'Bazeans of the
religious caste," one of them said in a melodic whisper.

"We do not like the Romulan's presence here; it is
disturbing us," the other replied in a similar voice. "The
man named Harker must be stopped."

" I am from Unity." Rangi answered. "..it's a starbase but
....I dont know where we are. I need to get back there or
at least contact them. Can you help me? "

She had hoped for some definate responce but one figure
remained motionless whilst the other bowed his head slightly
and pointed to a door on the far side of the room. The first
figure began to move towards it, the second indicated that
Rangi and Martin follow and he walked with them.

They led them through a peaked doorway and into a warmly lit
room. "This is our chapel, you will be safe here for now,"
one said while another secured the door. "Do not worry, all
will be well."

[USS Chimera] SD: 240905.09 Joint Personal Log, Cmdr. Athena Wellington/Gen. Viktor Ivanov, CCON/FCO

---------------
Start Log
---------------

=/\=General Ivanov's Office, EAS Hermes=/\=

Athena stood in the middle of the room looking out the small holographic view port window.  She sensed more than heard when company joined her.  "You look tired," She said without turning to even see who it was.

"I feel it too.  To be honest I'm not even sure if its just the hours I'm putting in, this place it seems to weigh heavily upon us all.  Too much blood shed here, too many good people lost.  You look good if a little stressed."  Viktor replied

She turned and took the couple steps that would bring them toe-to-toe.  "I've had a few things on my mind," she said as she ran her fingers through the lightly graying hair at his temples.  "When did this start to happen?"

"Hard to tell really, the only time I look in the mirror these days is to shave and at those times I'm generally too tired to notice.  It's hard to say whether it's a part of my human genetics or if it's the hybrid aging process.  Enough about me though, what's been on your mind?"  He asked as he circled his arms around her placing one in the small of her back and the other on her shoulder blade.

Athena brushed a soft kiss across his lips as she enjoyed the warmth of having his arms around her and replied.  "My recent trip, the time I spent with Susan, a couple of dreams and a wedding date," she snuck the part about the dreams in making them sound innocent when they had been disturbing.

"Susan's been in contact with me since then.  She said someone was sending you a telepathic signal and that it disturbed you.  She managed to trace it back to a remote location but by the time the assault team arrived the target was gone.  What did the signal show you ?" Viktor asked.

"Things about you .. and me... do you think its important?"

"It may be dangerous.  From the intelligence that we have on the group that tried to contact you we know they aren't friendly.  They are definitely involved with people who aren't fond of the Alliance or the Hybrids.  What in particular did they show you?"  He pressed.

"That they would go to extremes to keep you and I from marrying which brings up something that I'd like to discuss.... a date ...instead of an unknown time in the future that others seem to want not to happen so sooner would surely be better than later."  Athena kept her gaze steady and left no doubt that she was totally serious.  She noticed the slight tic in his cheek as he flexed the muscle there.  {Wonder when he'll get over the shock and tell me exactly what he thinks... other that I'm being totally ridiculous.}

"I know I've told you a little about my past and you have access to classified SSF information.  What I'm going to ask you is deadly serious...How much do you actually know about the Ganymede Genetics Corporation?"  Viktor said in a serious tone.

"I know that their work was outlawed and you and the second fleet went into save the hybrids and were successful and the you personally destroyed those associated with Ganymede Genetics."  She reached out and laid her hand on his chest over his heart, "Vik, what do you want me to know?"

"What I'm about to tell you is Highly Classified.  Yes I finished off the remnants of the Ganymede Genetics Corporation but they were only the servants. The Ganymede Genetics Corporation had masters in an organization called The Legion.  Up until now we have thought that The Legion only operated actively through undercover and sleeper agents.  One of the sleeper agents you've met Ensign Mary Lomax, her last words before she blew her brains out was 'For The Legion'.  Recent intelligence gathering has indicated that The Legion may be operating its own unit of Hybrids although we cant estimate numbers as yet.  Both Susan and I think that your dream signal you received was from one of these Hybrids."  Viktor paused to see her reaction.

"So...maybe the hybrids don't want to be doing what they're being forced to do?"  She posed the question calmly and stepped away from him a step or two as she thought deeply.

"Or maybe this is a provocation to lure us into a trap or acting rashly.  I can't tell for certain until we receive further information from the tracker team.  I sure as hell hope this isn't a prelude to The Legion making their play...we aren't ready for them yet."  Viktor said absently.

"Are you ready to get married yet," Athena asked and turned to watch Viktor as his thoughts seemed to race far, far away from her.  "Or would actually having the ceremony be considered acting rashly?"

Viktor turned to look at her.  "Of course I'm ready to get married and no having the ceremony isn't acting rashly but having the ceremony according to the enemy's timetable is.  Besides I won't likely get any time off until we retake the Rios System or the Second Fleet is assigned elsewhere."

"So... I should wait until the wars over... and then what should I wait for?  Or will there be anything to wait for by then..... "  Athena turned so that her back was to Viktor and crossed her arms in front of her.  "...Maybe I won't be the one waiting..."

"I'm not saying we wait till there's no more enemies to fight because no matter how many we beat there's always going to be another one crawling out the woodwork.  This enemy in particular is dangerous though, they're unpredictable, stealthy, ruthless and very dangerous."  He said firmly.

{I understand the dangers he's talking about;  alluding to .... I just wish he'd realize that ....}  Athena closed her eyes and let her own thoughts drift away.

"I've already lost one wife to their predations, I don't want to lose another.  I hope you can understand why I'm being cautious on this."  Viktor said.

{You're not the only one who's lost a love.}  "Understand caution...unfortunately...."  She stood still {watch history repeat itself again ... damn that dream... we'll both be dead if my dream is anything to go by.}  As she continued to remember Susan's warning Athena shivered.  "Vik.. is it better to have one day of happiness or possible years of regret?"

"Possible years of regret could also be possible years of happiness.  Life is a gamble and you have to play for the big prize.  Why settle for less than what you truly desire ?" Viktor said.

With tears in her eyes causing them to look like twin pools of light blue, Athena turned to face him asking, "And what exactly are you planning for?"

"I plan for us to be happy together without the worry of assassins hanging over us.  Now I can't guarantee decades, I can't even guarantee years of happiness, not in these circumstances but I swear I will do everything in my power and beyond to make that happiness a reality."  He said grasping her shoulders.

"I'd take a single day, but you know I'd want more..."

"Then help me fight them then.  You're an intelligent and talented woman.  Your help would be much appreciated."  Viktor replied.

"You didn't find me helpful in the meeting..... " she gave a small smile.  "Send me a date that's sooner versus later .... after all I already have the dress,"  she said hopefully and planted a kiss on him that he deepened.

Viktor sighed "If my schedule was up to me you'd have a date already."  He then smiled broadly "You have the dress?  Whats it like?"

"Whitish and you'll have to wait to the wedding day."  She gave a wink and smirked.  "Oh yeah,  its long too.  curiosity can be incentive... can't it?"

[USS Chimera] SD240905.08 Duty Log - MCapt COps Jade Reese

=/\= Bridge, USS Chimera C =/\=

After a few hours of sleep Jade headed back to the bridge after hearing that they were going back into the Grand Banks which meant dealing with electrical storm, lack of sensors and what ever else the nebula will throw at the Chimera. Before getting some rest after they left the nebula she held a meeting with her staff she wanted a group to come up with how they could use sonar or a echo location to help them avoid any large objects with sensors became compromised. But the electrical storm would mess with the sound waves which well then give them mix readings that would mean Ops would just have to continually run diagnostics on the sensors trying to stay ahead of the storm.

Once she was at her console she started making some of the adjustments that engineering sent up dealing with the shield frequencies, so that they would be ready when they entered the nebula not while they were going through it. She then checked and made sure that the Ops damage control teams were ready they didn't need them last time, but from the sounds of the mission they would be going in even farther then last time. She then double checked the communication array the last thing they would want is loosing contact with the other ships.

Once all the diagnostics and updates were done Jade leaned back and took a few minuets for herself until they entered the nebula. She was still thinking how they could deal with the sensors, but nothing was coming to her hopefully before things got to bad she would come up with an idea, but until then she would concentrate on getting everything ready for going back into the nebula.

[Outside the Grand Banks Nebula - Erassian Space]

"We are leaving the nebula." Lieutenant Dior reported from the helm station.

"Sensor ability back to one hundred percent," Reported Ra-Zerphimi, "I'm picking up the Magellan and Rapier off our port bow. The Rapier is right behind us."

"Standing down yellow alert," Natalia reported as she adjusted the Chimera's alert status.

"Captain," The Communications officer called out, "The Magellan is hailing us."

Rojac stood and straightened out his jacket. "On screen, Mr. Montesque."

"Captain Rojac," Bren greeted Rojac warmly as he appeared on screen. "How did your meeting with the General go?"

"Well, they were not as - pleasant - as I had hoped, but the mission was accomplished all the same." Rojac said. "Erassian Intelligence has traced the signal through cloaked relays in the Erass system toward a destination in the Canna System.  General Ivanov and Ambassador Ayanami want us to work with the EAS Prometheus for the rest of our investigation."

Captain Mayo watched the conversation with interest from the captain's chair on board the Magellan. "Captain Rojac, what do we know about this Canna system?" Frederick asked.

Rojac nodded to Captain Xerxes on his left.

Anya spoke. "The Canna System is the most remote of the Erassian Alliance holdings.  It has relatively decent deposits of mineral wealth so the Alliance maintains it's claim on the system despite being less than willing to spend the resources to exploit them.  Six planets in total four are gas giants and two are deemed habitable.  Both of those are on the extreme edge of the definition being extremely cold and permanently encircled with blizards, poisonous atmosphere and sensors don't work too well there either.  Also known as a nightmare for tracking things down and believe me I did just that three years ago."

"Sounds like the perfect hideout for the breen to me. Cold, desolate, and inhospitable." Rojac said.

"Indeed," Mayo responded. "And the Breen can be a sneaky bunch when they want to be."

"Well it appears we have a change in our plans then," Bren mused as he crossed his arms. "I'll contact Commodore Guzman as soon as we can get through. The outlying reaches of the nebula seems to affect long distance communications worse than we've anticipated. We haven't been able to get through to Unity."

"That's disappointing." Rojac said. "I'm sure the Commodore is biting his nails in anticipation of our news."

"Captain," the on-duty Chimera tactical officer called from his station, "I'm picking up a ship exiting the nebula. Its transponder identifies it as Erassian."

On the Magellan, the chief tactical officer spoke up, "Sir, we're picking up the same vessel and confirm it is of Erassian design."

"Very well, Ms. J'klock," Mayo said, still in alert mode. "Keep a close eye on it."

"Aye, sir," J'klock replied. "They're hailing."

"Put it on a split screen with the Chimera," Mayo ordered.

"Captains Rojac and Mayo I presume.  My name is Colonel Alfred Hendricks commander of the EAS Prometheus I am tasked with escorting your ships to the Canna System to take care of a pest problem.  There are three routes we can take to get to the Canna System.  One, through the Sotara System which is suicide; two, the long way round through Romulan Territory which is heavily defended to the point of being suicide; or three, which is the quickest and safest option through the Grand Banks.  What do you folks like the sound of?"  Colonel Hendricks asked.

"Subspace has collapsed in the Sotara system," Rojac informed Commander Ohmsford through the viewscreen, "an effect of the Erassian-Solrin war. We'd have to travel at impulse speeds which would take too long."

The Magellan captain nodded. "And while I would love to pay our Rommie friends a visit, it is probably not wise to let them in on our little investigation," Mayo said with a slight grin.

Bren looked at Frederick and then at Rojac. "Prepare your ships, gentlemen, it looks like we'll be traveling through the Grand Banks then."

Rojac grimaced internally. His crew was ragged from their earlier trek into the turbulent nebula, and their morale was telling him they wouldn't be too exitied about another incursion. "I'll have my science officer transmit our most effective shield modulation harmonics and hull polarization settings to help your vessels weather the storm, " Rojac said to Mayo and the other starfleet captains listening on the line.

"I'll have my people preparing for your transmission," Mayo said.

"I'll prepare a message and send the Rapier out to a point where they can deliver it to Unity," Bren said. "She's a fast ship and will be able to rejoin us quickly. See you on board soon, Rojac."

"Aye, sir." Rojac nodded. "Colonel Hendricks, we'll pass through the Grand Banks. Allow us time to contact our superiors and prepare our vessels for transit. We will signal when we are ready."

"Acknowledged. Prometheus out." The Erassian responded before ending the transmission.

"Commander Trzetrzelekwska, you have the conn." Rojac ordered. "I'm going down to Transporter Room One to meet up with Commander Ohmsford. Have Lt. Jardan prepare for cold weather insertion, and inform engineering we are in for another round with the nebula."

"Yes sir." Natalia replied.

Rojac made his way to the turbolift.

[USS Chimera] SD 240905.08 || V'Tar Mission || Task Group Beta ||

[V'Tar II - V'Tar System - Federation Space]

"Bogey off your port bow!" 2Lt Jake Goldbold of the Hindenberg's Ghost Squadron called to his flight leader over the intraship comm. But it was too late. Pulses of superheated green energy erupted from the romulan scorpion's disruptor cannons and tore the starboard wings and impulse drives off of Ghost 1's hull. The resulting explosion turned his transmission to static - and then silence.

"NOOOOOO!" Jake shouted. Within seconds, the microtorpedo launchers installed on his craft lobbed ten 13 centimeter photon warheads pummelling after the offender. The resulting impact shuddered Goldbold's own valkyrie.

+Ghost Two, this is Hindenberg. Come in.+

"Ghost Two here, Lieutenant." Goldbold answered.

+Ghost Two, you are now Ghost Leader. Regroup squadron and lead a run on Thalaron One, coordinates incoming.+

Goldbold took a deep breath. There would be time to mourn Marine Captain Jones' death, but now was not that time. Not when a romulan thalaron cruiser was priming its main weapon. "On it." He replied to the Hindenberg's Flight Operations Officer on the Bridge.

+Calvary is in-bound. Good luck.+

"Thanks." Goldbold replied, before banking hard to starboard. "Ghost squadron, pull off for bombing run on target Thalaron 1. Kronos maneuver. Green light when ready." Gold bold watched the squadron status display as one by one his teammates signalled their preparedness. "Go!" He ordered, once the last light shone veridian.

Ghost squadron dove hard on their target at full impulse - straight at their bow, staring the green glow right in the eyes in delta formation. 250 km out, they corkscrewed off and fired 10 microtorpedo's each impacting at the epicenter of the cruiser's main weapon. The explosion caused a bout of turbulence as the squadron split up and began pummelling the cruiser's hull.

+Thalaron 1's shields are down to 55%. Weapon's are still charging.+ The Hindenberg chimed in. +Three minutes until they're ready to fire.+

But a new, deeper voice came on the line - commanding authority. +Ghost Squadron, pull off. Exeter in-bound.+

Goldbold didn't know who gave the order, but he followed it all the same. "Ghost squadron, pull off regroup at waypoint delta."

Within seconds a sleek katana-B class vessel dropped out of warp of the thalaron cruisers port bow and fired two searing blue torpedoes at the opposing vessel.

[Bridge - Deck One - USS Exeter NCC 26531-B]

"Transphasic torpedoes away!" The bolian tactical officer called to Commander Bu'ton, the tellarite commanding officer of the Exeter.

"Helm," Bu'ton called in his gruff, battle-hardened voice, "evasive maneuvers."

"Aye, captain!" The orion officer called, pulling the bow of the katana-b frigate straight up to avoid the shockwave.

The fierce blue warheads phased right through the romulan vessels shields and when straight toward their singularity drive. The resulting shockwave tossed the Exeter 500 km laterally, but the orion helm officer recovered the vessel quickly; she took the Exeter on an intercept course toward the next target.

The same authoritative voice chimed in over the commline +Commander Bu'ton, the Akira is under attack by two Romulan scout frigates at waypoint charlie, render aide. The Yamato and Darkstom are in-bound.+

"Aye, Captain Chisulo." Bu'ton acknowledged. "Liutenant Shisq'kah, intercept course with the Akira - full impulse."

"Aye sir." The orion called back.

[Bridge - Deck One - USS Detector NX74001]

Captain Tedros Chisulo stood beneath the glowing blue lights maintaining his vigilant watch over the situation table in the aft section of the Detector's Bridge. The Detector remained cloaked, just outside of V'Tar II's gravity well where she could keep an eye on the unfolding battle.

"Captain," The science officer called back. "Darkstrom and Yamato are dropping out of warp."

Chisulo reached out toward two Romulan battleships suspended over the table's holographic projectors, they turned red with his touch. "Chisulo to Darkstrom and Yamato. I'm transmitting two targets to you now, clear the path for Akira and Exeter's marines."

+Aye sir.+ came Captain Daniels' response from the Yamato's bridge. +Engaging now.+

"Vrashnel, we could use that multi-vector assault mode." Chisulo said calmly over the line.

+Engaging now, Captain.+ The pacifican responded. Within seconds, the USS Darkstrom split into four parts, and closed in one one of the romulan d'deridex battleships. The Yamato engaged the other.

"Captain!" The tactical officer reported. "Thor squadron reports a sucessful bombardment planetside. MCap Loki reports clear for deployment."

Chisulo quickly pulled up a status display of the Thor Warhammer squadron's status. They had lost three ships in the run and were heavily damaged, the success had come at a price. "Thor squadron, report back to Hindenberg."

+We still have some fight left in us, Captain.+ MCap Loki's voice replied over the line. +We've identified another target.+

"Negative." Chisulo said. "Pull off, report to Hindenberg. Akira and Exeter are in-bound."

+But sir--+

"End of discussion, Captain." Chisulo cut him off. "Chisulo to Exeter and Akira, are you ready for orbital bombardment?"

+We're green, Captain.+ Bu'ton's gruff voice replied. +ODA teams are on stand-by.+

Chisulo tapped on the planet, pulling up the targeting analysis from Thor squadron's run. "Incoming target coordinates for orbital bombardment. Planetary disruptor batteries. Deploy ODA teams at your discretion."

+Aye, sir.+

Chisulo looked up at the viewscreen to see the Exeter and Yamato's phasers lash down to the planet's surface, raining fire on the recently assembled romulan installations.

"Captain," the science officer called out, "ODA teams are away. The Yamato and Darkstrom have terminated their targets. Three romulan scout vessels have just gone to warp in retreat."

Chiuslo looked over toward his tactical officer. "Threat assessment, Mr. Gregory."

"The scorpion squadron has suffered heavy casualties, our Valkyries are cleaning up the remaining third of them now."

"Chisulo to Hindenberg." Chisulo called.

+Captain Revels responding.+

"Revels, the coast is clear." Chisulo replied. "Warp in."

+Aye sir.+

Chisulo turned to the communications officer. "Contact UNITY, V'Tar II has been liberated: send in occupational force."

"Aye, sir."

One recieved, Admiral LeGrand's forces would warp in to relieve Chisulo's task group and hold down the fort. All that was left for Chisulo's team now was to recapture things planetside, which shouldn't be too difficult as the Romulans haven't had long to establish an infrastructure. There would be, however, large empty cities that would have had their populations eradicated by the Romulan's thalaron weapons. Ghost towns with poisoned atmoshpere's of residual radiation. V'Tar II had nothing left. It would be a ghost planet for a long time.

"ODA tams are planet-side." The science officer called, breaking Chisulo's train of thought.

"Good." Chisulo replied. "Helm, take us into standard orbit. See if our sensors can see through the thalaron radiation levels."

"Aye sir."

[USS Chimera] 240905.07, [UNITY] Duty Log, Capt. Trent Rodgers, 1TF XO

=Docking Port 3=
=Starbase UNITY=

Trent made his way to the starbase with a bag slung across his right
shoulder. He was to meet Rear Admiral Jefferson at the docking port
and was a minute ot two late.

'I shouldn't have had that last glass of vodka,' Trent thought.

"Sir, I can take that," a marine first lieutenant spoke up.

"That's quite all right. I can carry my own things," Trent replied.

"Sir, I insist. The admiral wants me to make sure your belongings are
sent directly to your quarters."

Trent noticed that the lieutenant had that look in his eyes, that look
that showed that he had saw combat. Trent was even willing to bet
that this man was no ordinary marine. He was definately SSF, but how
well trained, Trent could only guess.

As Trent turned the corner, he saw Jefferson up ahead waiting on him.

"Sir, what's with the marine?" Trent asked, nodding to the lieutenant.

"I thought you could use a hand," Jefferson replied.

"What? No crewmen or young ensigns available?"

"Give Lieutenant Bannister your bag so we can get on with this,"
Jefferson insisted.

Trent sighed as he handed the marine his bag, who in turned quickly
walked through the docking port.

"Again, what's with the marine?" Trent asked.

"Security," Jefferson finally admitted.

"Who's security?"

"Yours," Jefferson said.

"I don't need security," Trent said. "I can take care of myself."

"Captain, you were not on the Romulan's favorites list long before you
killed the praetor's brother. Now, well now you are certainly a target."

Trent turned to face Jefferson, "The praetor's brother?"

"The praetor's brother, favorite brother by the way, was the
commanding officer of the warbird your ship destroyed just before the
Lancelot bit the big one," Jefferson said.

"How long have you known about this?" Trent asked.

"Three weeks."

"THREE WEEKS! And your just telling me now?"

When Jefferson didn't answer, Trent shook his head, "Even so, I don't
need a security detail."

"It's just one man," Jefferson said.

"I don't care. If you think my wife and children are in danger, then by
all means. But I can handle myself. I always have."

"Then he can be your aide. He's not only a skilled fighter, but he is a
capable administrator. And if you do decide to bring Sarah and the
children out here, you can assign him to them."

"After this bit of news, I seriously doubt I'll be bringing them here."

"Well, that's your call. Do with him what you like. Anyhow, lets not keep
Commodore Guzman waiting."

Trent nodded as they walked through the docking port.

=Tarangor/Aeran Shipyard=
=Aeran System=

Rick watched as another Lancer was piloted out of the drydock. He rubbed
his eyes and sighed.

"Well, that make a dozen," Rick said.

"Yes, sir. And we barely have enough materals to finish the Lancer that is
under construction," Lieutenant Proietti said, nodding to the unfinished
fighter still in dock. "Still no word from starfleet?"

"No," Rick said. "They keep saying 'we're working on it'. I tempted to make
trip there myself to hurry things along. Or at least try. Sitting here not doing
any good."

"Well, that last Lancer will be finished tomorrow. We also have the Honor
scheduled for some hull repairs later on today."

Rick nodded, "Honor took on some significant damage. We could be working
on her for a couple of weeks."

"At least," Proietti added.

"I going have another chat with Commander Mackey," Rick said before
heading off.

Several minutes later ...

"I have good news, Commander Rodgers. Six cargo vessels departed a day
ago for Starbase UNITY under the direct order of Admiral Janeway," Mackey
said on the small computer screen.

"Really?" Rick said, sitting in what had become his office.

Mackey nodded, "It seems that she was very insistant that that shipment
get to you ASAP. From what I hear, Admiral Jefferson himself is heading up
the convoy."

"Really?"

"You seem surprised," Mackey seemed a little upset.

"I am," Rick said.

"I guess you people out there have friends in high places," Mackey said.

"I not know about that. Anyhow, thank you commander."

Mackey nodded before his image disappeared.

====== CO's ready room, Main operations, SB
234: UNITY ======

The door chime announced someone wanting to see him and
Shane found it a bit strange that Pakosii did not send a
word WHO it was. Only then Shane remembered that Pakosii was
sitting in the Task Force area, several tenths of decks away

"Come in" Shane called.

A rather tall human male figure, clad in yellow Starfleet
uniform entered the room. The man was about his thirties,
brown hair, brown eyes … a bit like Shane himself. He wore
the rank of Lieutenant and once coming to a few meters
distance – snapped to attention.

"Lieutenant Mumacik reporting as ordered, Commodore"

Shane looked at the man in front of him. Mumacik was an
ordinary man, easy to pass in a crowd, nothing special about
him. The only thing that was slightly disturbing the image
of a common man, was the Lieutenant's facial expression.
Or better lack of an expression. One could truly say that
the man wore no expression and remembered to a Vulcan.
Partially it was true … Mumacik was a human, but after an
accident in early childhood, he was unable to feel any
emotions and adding pain to injury … he was raised by
Vucans. Double emotionless, Mumacik was truly a "cold
frog" or "walking computer" as he was used to be
called during his academy times.

Shane stood up, walked over to the Lieutenant and offered
his hand for a shake: "Welcome Lieutenant, It's a long
time since we met"

Mumacik shook the Commodore's hand firmly and replied in a
very calm way: "Indeed, Commodore, It's over seven
years. It was on board Starbase 742: Aurora, where you
served as Chief tactical officer under the command of
Captain McElester. I was assigned on board the USS Archer
under the command of Captain MacLaren as Assistant tactical
officer"

Shane smiled: "I forgot about your excellent memory, Mr.
Mumacik"

Mumacik said nothing to that compliment and asked directly:
"How can I be of assistance, Commodore?"

Shane raised an eyebrow and asked: "Hmm … why do you
think I need your assistance?"

Emotionless like always, Mumacik replied: "Since you send
the USS Qashqai to collect me from the USS Mediterranean
where I was on a temporal duty. Captain Iris did not protest
about me leaving her ship, so I presume she got an order
about me. Since Captain Iris is not in your chain of
command, you had to pull high command strings for such an
order to be issued and the expenses of the Special Forces
First Task Force's CO ship bringing me here are too great
for this be a social visit. I assume there is a task of some
importance that you think I can accomplish here." That all
was said in the same tone, without any trace of what Mumacik
self was thinking about the whole business.

Shane nodded, trying to hide a grin. "Indeed, Mr. Mumacik,
there is something you could help me with." Deciding not
to beat the bush (since it would be of no sense with him),
Shane went on: "I have a vacant position as Chief of Task
Force level security … here on UNITY. Your responsibility
would be the security of all TF area here on the UNITY as
well as all TF personnel. How about that?"

Mumacik shook his head: "I am not a member of Special
Forces and therefore can not assume any senior position
within the Forces. Furthermore I am not qualified for a
security position as my qualification goes only for tactical
and operations" was the plain reply.

Shane waved with his hand: "Forget about the paperwork, I
can have you in SSF sooner or later and for the time being,
I make you acting in that position. Your qualification
isn't an issue, I picked you because your other qualities.
The question here is, do you want that position, Mr.
Mumacik?"

"No, Commodore" said Mumacik plainly.

"Well, Lieutenant Mumacik, then it wont please you that
your transfer has already been approved by Starfleet
Command, will it?"

"No, Commodore" said Mumacik plainly again.

"Mumacik, you are just the perfect man for that job. We
have a lot of security guys here, but a shortage of folks
that can lead the team and take responsibility. I need an
analyst, that will judge the situation and act according it
… not just shooting heroes, with their heads full of glory
and promotions. I need someone who does all the preparations
and plans and backup plans and failure strategies."

The Lieutenant nodded: "I understand, Commodore. Its true
that my work for Starfleet Command operations was of a
similar nature, even if on an another level of activity. I
can assume my duties within an hour"

Shane was a bit surprised about the reply and sudden change
of mind. "There are no hard feelings on your side?" he
asked carefully.

Mumacik shook his head: "No, Commodore. As you say, my
transfer has been already approved and I do not have the
proper rank or authority to reverse your decision. Logic
dictates that I will have to serve here until I am
reassigned again. I have no other interests on this Star
Base, so can assume my duty now."

Shane shrugged slightly about the man. "All right then,
get in touch with my aide, Lieutenant Pakosii. He will get
you quarters and other stuff needed as well all the
paperwork. Report to me once all this is cleared"

"I will, Commodore. May I leave now?" Mumacik asked.

Shane nodded: "You're dismissed"

[USS Chimera] SD 240905.06 || CO Log || Capt Rojac ||

[Transporter Room 1 - Deck 4 - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]

Rojac nodded to the away team as he stepped off the transporter platform, sending them on their separate ways to type up their formal reports. The captain however needed to make way out of the hell hole of a nebula they were in. As soon as he passed through the doors, his yeoman, Petty Officer Grace Bio, handed him a padd.

"Thanks." He replied and he took the offered padd and gazed over it's contents. "Anything big happen?"

Grace tried to keep up with Rojac's long, quick strides as he made his way down the hallway. "Engineering and Operations report high levels of electric activity from the storm and are reporting some strange behaviors in the ship's systems."

"Like what?" He asked.

"Well," Bio began, "engineering reported that the electric storms outside were creating a massive energy build-up in the shield generators. Lieutenant Kroitzer ordered the build-up to be channeled out of the defelctor to prevent the feedback from damaging our systems and breaching the hulls."

"Good thinking," Rojac nodded as he scanned through Kroitzer's logs, "if the shields would have gone down we would have had one hell of a medical emergency aboard the ship. Your blood would be boiling right about now." He smirked.

Grace gave a sarcastic smirk in return. "Yeah well, according to Operations that discharge may have caused a dangerous chain of reactions throughout the nebula.

"How so?" Rojac asked.

"Science isn't completely sure," Bio reported, "but the increase in electrical activity caused by the cascading reaction has reduced our sensors' abilities inthis environment. Captain Reese reports a reduction of visibility down to one hundred kilometers."

Rojac sighed, "That's great. Do we have any hope of improving that?"

"She has proposed sneding ahead some class four probes to scout ahead of our path."

"Yeah, but they wouldn't last long in this environoment, and we'll probably need them for the next phase of the mission." Rojac sighed.

The approached the turbolift doors and they opened, allowing the pair to enter, "Bridge" The captain ordered. "We'll just have to rough it." He said.

"I'm sorry, sir?" Bio asked.

"You know, Petty Officer," Rojac began, "there are some lifeforms that down have the sense of sight. The navigate through their environments through the use of echolocation, or through a keen sense of magnetic fields. I think we rely too much on our sight."

Grace nodded in a tenetative state of understanding. "If you say so, sir."

The doors opened to the bridge, and Rojac stepped forward into his domain.

"Captain on the bridge!" An officer shouted.

Natalia stood up and moved to her XO chair as Rojac approached. "The Erassians have traced the signal to the Canna system through a series of cloaked relays in the Erass system. We're to rendezvous with thier ship, the Prometheus and set course to continue the investigation. But first, we need to rendezvous with Ohmsford and the Magellan."

Natalia nodded in understanding.

"Lieutenant Dior," Rojac shouted to the bajoran-betazoid helm officer (who he swore winked at him as she turned around), "re-trace our steps through the nebula, half impulse. We'll need increased power to whatever sensors we have - heavy emphasis on the magnetic field readings we know to be in the nebula. Captain Reese, you control the power; Mr. Ra-Zerphimi man the sensors manually."

"Aye sir." They responded.

"I want Kroitzer to continue low-level, periodic expulsions of the energy levels through the deflector - before they reach a level high enough to create another reaction like we experienced." Roajc ordered, Natalia nodded and contacted Engineering on the comm.

"Let's get moving." Rojac said. "Commander Ohmsford is probably worried sick."

[USS Chimera] SD: 240905.05 Duty Log 2Lt. Nyx

=/\= Unity - Mnemosyme's Office =/\=
Nym sat in the lounge chair rolling her eyes at the ceiling while the patient wasn't looking as she took her notes.

"I was at that little corner shop yesterday... you know the one ... you know with the glass menagerie in the window and the exotic feeling fabrics with the oddest designs... well  like I said  was in there and I was just so intrigued by the little glass animals and all the colors that the glass seemed to be... and you know it didn't mater what color the pieces were when the light hit them just right there always seemed to be some kind of rainbow."  Mrs. Powell looked at Mnemosyme and waited for the young counselor to nod her understanding.

Nym sighed silently as Mrs. Powell looked back up at the ceiling from her prone position on the sofa.  "Please, go on," she said as though she were engrossed by what she was being told.

"That Kind of rainbow is always so pretty but can never compare to the real thing.. anyways... one of the rainbows just seemed to be pointing out this lush fabric that seemed to feel like the softest velvet I've ever felt but the color was green and seemed to take on the fresh mown yard type of design and as I was listening to the sales lady's explanation of the fabric and its most unusual origins.... a glass figure in the loveliest shade of deep violet caught my eye...."

Nym sat a little straighter thinking {Finally} and paid closer attention when Mrs. Powell hesitated just a moment or two too long before she continued.

"....it reminded me of something and the saleswoman's voice just seemed to melt away and .... those eyes were starting at me out of now where... oohhh I'll NEVER for get them... so lost ... so forlorn so ....hurt."

"Take a deep breath and let it out slowly," Nym instructed as she noticed the older woman become more upset by whatever she was picturing in her mind.

Mrs. Powell did as she was instructed more out of reaction than actual understanding.  "One minute I was staring at the new china pattern and the next everything just started shaking... I mean I practically shook right out of the top of my dress and then... we had to leave the shop as plates and things flew off the shelf and then..... there were those eyes deep violet eyes that stared at me... and that poor girls broken little body."

Nym moved to the sofa and comforted Mrs. Powell as she sobbed almost uncontrollably.  {Two days of shopping details and finally...}  The counselor calmed her patient with new understanding. {I wonder if she's sleeping at night... guess my questions might have to wait for a bit.}

- Summary (by Bren and Rangi)
-------------------------

= Chimera Summary = (Bren)

In Sickbay, Dr Nanee Quiocho made notes about which crew still needed physicals or had incomplete medical records.
Meanwhile, Captain Rojac and his team depart the Chimera's shuttlebay on the way to meet General Ivanov to begin talks. They arrive safely in the "car park" thanks to Anya and are welcomed aboard the EAS Hermes.
On the Bridge, Chief Ops Reese is worried about the danger the environment of the Grand Banks poses to the Chimera's shields and the lack of sensor resolution, and tries to devise a solution to the problem
When Rojac meets with Ivanov, he cuts to chase and tells the General why they are there. After an exchange with some choice words, Ivanov requests that the Federation be more forthcoming with information to the Alliance. He the informs Rojac that the communications trail he's been chasing leads to the Canna System.

= UNITY Summary = (Rangi)

Mercedes carpenter arrived on the starbase, now in the role
of an agent in the Department of Medical Research
Intelligence but was unable to meet Major Kinn. After a tour
of the station and some time in her quarters, Mercedes
headed to the infirmary in hopes of seeing Rangi and
learning more about the case she had been sent to
investigate. Under Sally schumans guidance, she discovered
Scott fisher was acting CMO in Rangis absence and after a
hesitant beginning, the two began to regain some of their
past friendship..

After finding Rangis commbadge on the planet, Shane returned
to Unity and with Tereks help in investigations, now knew
that she, Martin and presumably Major Liev too, had all been
kidnapped and Shane suspected Tal'shiar involvement. Terek
discovered that Liev had accessed information about the
Tachyon Grid quite frequently and the last time was after
the transport had taken place. Shane suspected that Lievs
codes were being used by the kidnappers.

Admiral Jefferson contacted Shane to inform him that Trent
Rodgers was to replace Pontbrillant as XO. Shane had no
alternative officer in mind for the position so accepted the
decision.
In Quorum Space, Regina Harker discovered too late that he
half brother was capable of doublecrossing anyone and having
delivered Rangi and Martin into his hands in return for the
release of her mother, Reginas reward was to be vapourised.

Nym couldnt avoid an impromptu counselling session during
her lunch break.

Giella requested a meeting with Shane and told him some
disturbing news. Not only did it seem likely that Liev was a
'mole' but the other messages, until then apparantly random,
now seemed to have been a warning about Rangi and Martins
kidnapping. It also seemed almost certain that other clues
were hidden in the messages concerning Harker and the
Romulans but  nothing was clear.

Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org).

-------------------------
- On Report
-------------------------
Any officer who is Absent Without Leave (0) for two or more consecutive
weeks is considered "On Report." Crewmen on report should email the command staff immediately to explain their absence (too much to do in RL is a fine excuse) and say when they anticipate being able to log again in the future.
The following crewmen are on report:

 none.
-------------------------
- Removals/Resignations
-------------------------
The following crew have either resigned or have been dropped due to lack of activity. If they would like a position on the USS Chimera, they will need to reapply.

Crewman Theodosia, LtJG Michael Howard, LtCmdr Curtis Scardona
