[USS Chimera] SD 240905.31 | Quorum Space | Joint Log, Nicolas Harker & Martin Guzman
= Harker's Personal Quarters =
After the incident with Rangi and having her taken to the cell,
Martin was surprisingly calm and Harker was watching him
carefully.
Harker sat at the table and waited while his food was
served. He looked at Martin who sat across him at the
decorated table. "Are you sure you're not hungry, Martin?"
Nicolas asked him nicely. "The chef can make you anything
you desire."
Martin shook his head and stared moodily at the intricate
pattern of the table cloth. He took the edge of it into his
fingers, looking at Harker now and then surrepticiously.
Harkers food had had been served and he was inspecting it.
Martin picked at a thread in the embroidered cloth,
determined not to speak to this horrible man.
"Nicolas sliced through a piece of chicken on his plate and
slowly took a bite. "Mmmmm," he said. He then sliced a wedge
of a fried potato took a bit. "Oh this really is delicious."
He continued eating for a minute or so and then stopped to
take a drink from his glass of wine. "You really should try
some Martin, just a bite," he suggested, taking his fork and
putting a drumstick in Martin's empty plate.
Martin was hungry...very hungry, for it had been sometime
since he had eaten anything. He eyed the chicken silently
then glanced at Harker who seemed to be ignoring him. The
chicken smelt inviting and Martin wanted it.
He pulled at the thread in his fingers and succeeded in
making a small hole. Harker was savouring his wine so Martin
decided he would take just a little bite...nothing
much...just a taste of it.He slid his hand over the ege of
the table towards the plate and touched the chicken. His
mouth watered.
Taking another drink from his glass, Nicolas glanced at
Martin. He pretended not to notice and turned his attention
to his own plate.
Martin furtively took a bite. Harker was right, it 'was'
delicious and he ate it, watching Harker all the time.It was
soon gone and he returned to plucking at the thread
undercover of the table edge but eyeing Harkers meal now,
wishing he had more for himself.
"So tell me Martin... that terminal we found in the chapel.
How does it work? It looks so old, I don't think I'd be able
to figure it out myself," Nicolas said. There was silence
for a moment and then Harker placed a baked potato in
Martin's plate.
The little boys eyes grew wide. This was too much to
resist. He picked up his knife and fork and began a clumsy
attempt to slice it.
"It 'is' old." he said. "Its very old."
He bit into the potato and looked across at the man opposite
him. " I can figure things out...my daddy taught me." he
said with a touch of defiance. It was good to know this
horrid man wasnt clever.
"Were you able to figure it out?" Nicolas asked curiously.
He already knew the answer; he had his people take it apart
and scan every byte to make sure Rangi hadn't submitted a
message, but the terminal's memory was wiped and there was
no evidence of any transmissions made. At least, that was the
official story.
"Yes." Martin said and chewed happily on his potato. He was
right, this man wasnt clever at all. " You dont know much do
you?" he asked, delighting in being able to be impolite. He
looked at the chicken on Harkers plate.
"Hmmm," Harker mused at Martin's question. He motioned with
a finger to a servant who brought over a covered plate.
Putting it down in front of Martin, the servant lifted the
lid to reveal a full meal, steaming hot. "Could you teach
me?"
Martin paused before answering, concentrating instead on
the food. After a moment or two he said:
" I can teach you how to play TacSim. Im really good at it."
He picked up a drumstick and bit into it.
"Excellent, I look forward to it," Nicolas smiled. The
servant came over again, this time with a large bowl of
chocolate pudding. "Finish your meal first, young man," he
added with a parental tone of voice.
Martin ate steadily as wafts of choclatey aroma drifted
across the table. It seemed the man wanted to be his friend.
" When can mummy come and have some dinner?" he asked
"Don't worry about her, she'll be fine," Nicolas said. "I'm
sorry that you had to see her treated that way, but I had to
in front of the Romulans. I couldn't otherwise... they might
have suspected that I wanted to help your mummy."
"Help her?" Martin looked up eagerly. "You want to help
mummy? We can go and get her then...you can tell the
Romulans to go away."
"I'm afraid it's not that simple Martin," Nicolas shook his
head. "You see, the Romulans can't know I want to help her,
otherwise they will hurt her. But the place I sent her to is
safe; she has a friend there who will keep her company and
she will sleep soundly tonight."
Martin frowned. " I thought the Romulans were your friends."
he ventured.
"I have to make them think we're friends," Nicolas said.
"So that I can help the Federation. That's where I come from
after all... I come from Earth."
Martins confusion showed in his expression. This was all
very complicated but Harker was smiling to him as though he
really meant what he said.
" I come from Earth too." Martin told him and at a signal
from Harker, the servant dished out a generous helping of
the pudding, removing the chicken plate and placing the dish
in front of Martin. The pudding oozed chocolate sauce and
Martin picked up his spoon.
This was just what Rangi liked and he could imagine what she
would have said if she had been there to share it. He dipped
his spoon into the sausce but looked at Harker thinking that
something wasnt right. Surely, he asked himself, his mother
would know if Harker was really a friend. She had recognised
him so perhaps what he said 'was' true yet Rangi had
distrusted him.
He dropped his gaze to the pudding and began to eat some
whilst Harker leaned back in his chair and sipped from his
glass.

[USS Chimera] SD: 240905.30 || Canna III Assault Log - Part One ||
----------
Start Log
Anya led the two squadrons in a silent dive to the surface
of Canna III. In a way it should have been a dream come
true for her , seeing her AX-01s and AX-02s flying side by
side but something was unsettling her. She didn't know if
it was something she was detecting through Prophet's
prescience or merely her own reliable gut instinct, what
she did know was something bad was going to happen.
The Lancers and M-35As had made their descent to the
surface on the opposite side of the planet to avoid
detection and to also allow time for the barrage of
stealthed Skyscreamer missiles from the EAS Prometheus
to reach the target. They flew near blindly through
canyons and extremely low over the surface to continue
avoiding detection relying heavily on topographical maps
taken during the last days of the Solrin War when Alliance
Forces were trying to dig out the remaining Solrin Forces
and barely functioning passive sensors. Anya had no
doubt that despite the experience of both her and the
Prometheus pilots that they were all highly stressed at
the moment.
The route indicator bleeped a warning indicating that they
were five minutes from the suspected target base and
Anya readied herself accordingly. Above the base the
Skyscreamer Missiles raced in and detonated in the upper
atmosphere creating a massive cloud of chaff and emitting
a jamming signal which to those on the ground would look
like a group of ships jumping into low orbit causing every
anti-air defense system to target them allowing Anya's
Lancers and the M-35As a clear visual on their first target.
Anya broke comm silence for the first time since launching.
"All units this is Strike Commander. Commence Operation
Phase One, code ES for mission go. Break by flights and
light 'em up." In return she received a barrage of
affirmatives from both squadrons although it was easy to
discern between the Erassian voices and those of her very
own Lancers. The Lancers addressed her as 'Lead' or 'One'
and the Erassians addressed her as 'Stormchild'. That last
title often held more weight than a high rank within the
Erassian Alliance Military.
Targetting a light anti-air battery Anya rapidly turned it
into molten slag with the powerful pulse phaser cannon
mounted in the nose of the AX-02 Lancer. In theory the
more heavily armed M-35As were focusing on the heavy
anti-orbital guns and the base shield generators but as
they hadn't known the exact layout of the base during
the planning phase of the mission it was a bit like pot luck
as to what targets popped up for each sweeping route.
Anya spotted a likely looking target, a long transparisteel
window overlooking a long stretch of the base perimeter.
It was likely the primary control centre for the bases
external defences. Taking it out would provide a definite
advantage to the attacking forces. She banked hard and
kicked in the thrusters so her Lancer hovered in front of
the window. Thumbing the weapons select to the
quantumn nano-torpedo chainguns and depressing the
trigger Anya ruthlessly fired, the rounds ripping through
glass, machines, blood, bone and flesh.
Rejoining the rest of her flight she poured over the
information being transmitted from Sun God through the
combat datastream evaluating the damage the squadrons
had achieved. Opening up a channel to all the fighters
Anya called "Move to Operation Phase Two. Lancers
provide Close Air Support for ODA Assault teams and
hit any lazed targets. Prometheus Fire assume High
Altitude Combat Air Patrol and cover the Special Forces
Orbital Drop Pods on their way down."

[USS Chimera] SD 240905.29 || UNITY || JL || Capt Rodgers & Capt Chisulo ||
"Captain Chisulo!"
Tedros turned to see the source of the call as he purposefully strode off the boarding ramp to the USS Detector. He found an eager young marine approaching him, leading forward with a padd in his hand.
"Welcome back, Captain." The young soldier greeted him. "We were all glad to hear your mission was a success."
Tedros nodded, "In some respects, yes. But the fact still remains that an entire colony's population was eradicated. The victory is bittersweet."
The young officer lost a bit of the jubilance in his visage, remanded by Chisulo's stark remarks. As a fallback, the marine handed the Tactical Advisor the padd in his hands. "This is a summary of the starbase's tactical reports from during your absence. It details the upgrades to the torpedo launchers and phaser turrets and the latest simulation results."
"Thank you." Chisulo said as he took the padd and glanced over the results.
"I'm also to inform you to report to Captain Trent Rodgers immediately upon arrival."
"Captain Rodgers?" Chisulo asked, puzzled. "Where is the Commodore, and Pont Brillant?"
"The Commodore is away on mission." The marine replied. "And Captain Rodgers is the new XO."
Chisulo only nodded. High level officers never stayed in one position long during times of war. Chisulo's experiences during the Dominion War told him that. "Thank you, Lieutenant."
[Captain Rodgers' Office, SB 234: Unity]
Trent looked through the contents of the lone box on his desk. Most of the items in the box were new since just about everything in his old ready room on the Lancelot was destroyed with the ship. He pulled out a book that had been a gift from his former XO. It was a collection of Bajoran short stories, written during the time of the Cardassian occupation. As Trent skimmed through the pages, he could only make out a word here or there, but that was about it.
"Sir."
Still holding the book in his left hand with its pages open. Trent looked toward the door to see Lieutenant Bannister.
"Yes, lieutenant."
"Captain Chisulo is here as requested," the marine lieutenant said.
"Good. Send him in."
Bannister nodded before turning sharply and exiting the room.
Tedros Chisulo entered as the door slid aside. He stopped five paces before his new superior and snapped a quick salute. "Greetings, Captain Rodgers. You wished to see me?"
Trent put the book down on his desk.
"Yes, captain. Please have a seat. Can I get you anything to drink?"
"No." Chisulo responded. "But thank you."
Trent moved the box off his desk and sat it on the deck beside his desk. He remained standing.
"I read the report that Commodore Guzman forwarded to me before he departed. Good job on retaking V'Tar II."
"Thank you, sir." Chisulo nodded.
"It was disappointing to hear how our fighters and bombers were outclassed," Trent said. "Hopefully, our renewed Lancer production will be able to make up for that."
Trent finally took a seat.
"I suppose the good news is you were able to take out two of their Thalaron cruisers. Unfortunately, according to the logs, there are at least still two more of those cruisers out there. We need to figure out some way to detect them before they get anywhere near a Federation or allied planet, or we'll have to settle for further victories like that in the V'Tar system ... victories we can not afford."
"I also found it interesting that sea life seems to not be affected by this weapon," Trent said. "Maybe there's a way we can use that to our advantage, though I can't imagine how."
"Short of submerging all of our cities, I am at a loss at well." Chisulo replied. "Perhaps Science would have better luck."
Trent stood and walked to Chisulo's side of the desk.
"Well, captain, I know you probably have a few things to take care of. So I won't take anymore of your time," Trent offered his hand. "I was just wanting to meet with you and get a feel for how the mission went. Is there anything you feel needs to be added?"
"Not at this time, Captain." Chisulo said. "But sir, I have held your position before. I you need any assistance settling in, I would be more than happy to provide it."
"Very good. It was good to meet you," Trent said.

[Bridge - Deck 1 - USS Chimera-C]
The Chimera took care of the remaining Breen Warships well enough. The Quantum torpedo volleys decimated the organic hull plating, all the while sustaining minimal damage to the Chimera herself. MCap Reese reported only minor damage to the deflector shield emitters, to which damage control teams were already being deployed. The Chimera set a course toward the dead-in-water freighters to beam in security teams, while the Eagle-B and the Prometheus swarmed in on the planetary installations.
Rojac nodded and tapped his combadge, "Bridge to Jardan. Are you ready, Lieutenant?"
+Aye, sir.+ Jardan replied over the comm. +I've got six teams ready for deployment, on your mark.+
"All teams are on the freighters." Jade reported after transporting the security teams to the freighters and confirming that all made it. She then started a program she designed that would keep track of everyone and if their signal was lost it would try and locate it itself and then alert who ever was at the console.
"Captain, Commander!" The Efrosian Science Chief, LtCmdr Ra-Zerphimi called from his station. "Five Romulan ships dropped out of warp outside of the planet's gravity well, due to the distortion torpedoes."
"What class, Science?" Bren asked in reply.
"They appear to be troop transports, sir." The white haired officer replied.
"What's their ETA?" Rojac asked.
"At full impulse they would enter transporter range for the planet's surface in ten minutes." Zerphimi reported.
"They're making bombing runs planet side." Jade said going through reports making sure she had the correct information.
"Then we'll have to intercept." Roajc said. "Dior plot an intercept course and engage. Best speed."
"Aye, sir." The half-bajoran half-betazoid Lieutenant replied over her shoulder. "Weapons range in three minutes."
"I'm getting a report from the Magellan; they're under attack by two Romulan ships and have evacuated the Rapier," Bren reported. "I'm going to tell them to hold their ground as long as they can to delay those two birds."

[USS Chimera] SD: 240905.27 Duty Log, Lt JG Gustav Kroitzer Act. CEO
=/\= USS Rapier – Bridge =/\=
Gustav materialized with Cmdr Trzetrzelewska and the rest of the away
team to a grim site, the air thick with smoke and god knows what other
toxic vapours.
Almost as soon as he arrived Gustav was given his orders from the
Commander "Kroitzer, life support is your first priority, then try to
get shields up".
"Aye Ma'am" was all the young engineers said as he headed to the
Rapiers engineering decks.
As he made his way to engineering Kroitzer passed a number of bodies
either passed out or worse on the floor, unfortunately he couldn't
stop and help as he know that the best way to help any survivors was
to get the ships power and life support restored.
Arriving outside main engineering Gustav had to pry the doors open to
get, what he saw could only be described as hell in space, nearly all
consoles were blow, bulkheads fallen and the same rancid smoke in the
air as in the rest of the ship.
The first thing Gustav done was to stop one of the Rapiers engineers,
his uniform black and with no sign of rank visible "where is your CEO"
without saying a the engineer pointed to a body laying at a blow
console.
Still talking to the shaken engineer "What's your name"
"H.. Hendley, L.. Lieutenant Christopher Hendley" the engineer replied
Although Higher ranked than Gustav he decided to take charge, "Ok Lt,
I'm the Chimeras CEO, I'm here to help, I need you to gather all able
bodied engineers here", when the Lt Hendley didn't move he said
sternly "Now Lt".
After a few seconds Kroitzer had about 6 engineers in front of him
ignoring any form of real introduction he started "Right first thing
is to get emergency power back up, then restore life support, you,
you, you and you work on life support the rest come with me to restore
power".
After only a few minutes Gustav's small team of engineers managed to
get emergency power up and running almost as soon as the lights came
on the Commander contacted him.
"Kroitzer, was that you?"
"Yes, Commander," the engineer replied. "Emergency power is on and
we're working on life support now."
"Keep me informed. Trzetrzelewska out," was the last she said to him.
With all the engineers working on the life support it was less than an
hour before life support was up and running, at least in some parts of
the ship, he had started on the warp drive when Trzetrzelewska
contacted Gustav again.
"Kroitzer, how long until we can have warp?" she asked.
"That's difficult to say, Commander," came the reply. "The Rapier's
got one nacelle, which can give us Warp 2 at best, but without shields
the outer hull will apart."
Before Gustav could do anymore he was showered in blue and was looking
at the transporter operator on the Magellan.

Lt JG Gustav Kroitzer
Act. CEO
USS Chimera – C
[USS Chimera] SD 240905.27 | Canna System | Duty Log, Cmdr Trzetrzelewska (Chimera XO)
The group of Chimera officers materialized in the corridor right outside of the Rapier's bridge. Immediately they were coughing as open vents filled the air with steam and smoke. Ahead the bulkhead leading into the bridge was open and from she stood, it looked pretty bad to Natalia. She turned around and addressed that came with her.
"Kroitzer, life support is your first priority, then try to get shields up. Dr Rice, assess which patients are critical and have them beamed to the Magellan's Sickbay," the Chimera's XO ordered as the teams split. Dr Rice followed her ahead into bridge to start his assessment of the Rapier's personnel.
They entered carefully into the dim bridge. It was eerily quiet and dark with several console flickering in and out of existence. Rice lifted up his torch and shone it ahead into the darkness, moving to the centre of the bridge to the command chair. Natalia followed him, stepping carefully over a fallen ceiling plate, but what she saw made her stop. In the command chair, the form of Commander Telson was slumped lifelessly to the right side, a large gash running from his neck down to the centre of his chest. Without hesitating, Dr Rice opened his medical tricorder and scanned the Rapier's CO, but Natalia already suspected the worst, and for the first time since the Battle of Aeran III, she felt the effect of the war begin to hit home.
"He's dead," Rice said matter-of-factually and moved on to the nearest person who was sprawled on the floor of the bridge.
Natalia heard a scraping sound towards the front of the small bridge and moved towards it. She saw a large ceiling plate beside the helm console that was propped up at an angle against the wall, and heard the sound again as the plate moved slightly.
"Hello? Can you hear me?" she said as she dropped to her knees and peered beneath the fallen plate. Next she heard a soft groan and as she shone her torch into the darkness, she saw a hand reaching out and then a familiar face with a mane of dark brown hair; it was Lieutenant Dacour.
"Rice! I found the XO, she's trapped under the steal plate," Natalia called out. Just as Rice rushed over a surge of power brought the emergency lights on and dimly illuminated the bridge. A few console sparked and died but the rest came to life.
"Kroitzer, was that you?" Natalia tapped her commbadge.
"Yes, Commander," the engineer replied. "Emergency power is on and we're working on life support now."
"Keep me informed. Trzetrzelewska out," Natalia replied, then turned back to Rice. "How's she doing?"
"A few badly bruised body parts, but she'll be fine," Rice commented. "She can be lucky she's half Klingon."
= An hour or so later =
With emergency power up it didn't take take Lieutenant Kroitzer too long to life support up and running to essential decks. The upper decks had taken the most damage and had been evacuated, with the exception of the bridge. All non-essential areas and systems were also shut down with Dr Rice and the injured personnel having beamed to the Magellan's Sickbay.
"How are you feeling?" Natalia asked as she turned around on her stool where she'd been sitting at an auxiliary console, reading the latest report from Kroitzer.
"I've been better," Pazla Dacour admitted honestly from where she sat at the helm console, also going through system checks. "I'll be fine soon enough."
"I can take care of things here, if you want to take a trip to the Magellan's Sickbay." Natalia knew it was a silly thing to say. It was unlikely Pazla would willingly leave the Rapier; with Telson dead, she was the acting CO and Natalia certainly wasn't going to order her off her own ship.
"I'm fine," Pazla reiterated a little more firmly. "Besides, there's too much to do here. From a crew of 50, a third of the crew are dead, and another third are in the Magellan's Sickbay." For a moment she paused and looked back at the helm console, then slammed her fist in anger against it.
"What is it?" Natalia asked as she got up and moved over to her side.
"Tactical sensors are picking up five Romulan ships inbound," she said.
Natalia quickly tapped her badge. "Kroizter, how long until we can have warp?"
"That's difficult to say, Commander," came the reply. "The Rapier's got one nacelle, which can give us Warp 2 at best, but without shields the outer hull will apart."
"Two warbirds just decloaked!" Pazla called out. "They've fired on the Magellan. As much as I hate to say it, we can't take another hit. She's not strong enough."
Natalia nodded, understanding. "We'll come back for her later, I promise," she said, then tapped her badge. "Rapier to Magellan. We're in no shape to take another beating, requesting emergency beam-out of all personnel. Repeat, requesting emergency beam-out of all personnel."
With a heavy sigh, Pazla stood up from her chair and joined Natalia. A moment later, they were engulfed by the transporter beam and were whisked over to the Magellan.

Lieutenant Rayna Dior's reaction time was impeccable. No sooner had Rojac shouted the order than had she already pitched the bow of the Chimera straight down. Her deft fingers quickly triggered impulse to full, and simultaneously fired maneuvering thrusters to hurl the Chimera into a counter-clockwise barrel roll. Taking the opportunity - the tactical officer fired the five dorsal type XIII phaser turrets, pounding the lead Breen battleships ventral section. As the corkscrew matured he activated the lateral starboard turrets to continue his barrage.
But the breen took their shots too. The lead vessel and their port-side counterpart broke off formation to pursue the Chimera - the heaviest hitter of the three allied ships. The third Breen battleship went up after the Prometheus and Eagle - who pitched upward after the sudden confrontation. Even despite the equal numbers, the breen couldn't hope come out victorious over the superior firepower of a century class warship, a katana-b, and an Erassian destroyer. It had to be a distraction, a time stalling measure.
The Chimera's bridge shook slightly as the type-three disruptors made contact with the shields. With a quick glance at his armrest display Rojac noticed the shields were fine, but so were the Rapier's.
"Reese," Rojac shouted, "can you counter that anti-shield beam?" The bridge shook from another blast as the second target pulled in-line behind them.
"Firing aft turrets!" Tactical shouted.
"I'm going to need more time before I can effectively counter the anti-shield beam." Jade said quickly reading reports and trying to get the shield modulation to where it can withstand a hit from that weapon.
Rojac grimaced. Breen were known to use energy dampening weapons, but to have one that could bring down shields that quickly? That was an ace in the hole, and Rojac wanted the joker.
"Captain!" The efrosian science chief, Ra-Zerphimi, called from the starboard station. "Sensors are detecting six breen freighters on an escape vector on the dark side of the planet. They are powering up their organic warp drive systems."
"We can't let them get away," Bren spoke up, addressing Rojac.
The bridge shook from another disruptor blast as the two pursuers coordinated attacks on the Chimera's aft. "Whats the time of intercept from Lancer 1's current position?" Rojac asked.
"Too long." Zerphimi replied. "They'd be at warp before then."
Rojac nodded, and stepped up from his chair to approach the auxiliary tactical station. "Get them off our ass for a moment." He shouted to the stationed officer, who nodded at fired the pulse phaser turrets - scoring direct hits to one's port disruptor array. The captain, and former tactical officer armed four of the five dorsal torpedo launchers and targeted a wide spread around the escaping freighters.
"What's your plan, Captain?" Bren asked as he checked the influx of data on his console.
"They are distortion torpedoes, Commander." Rojac said. "We can't afford to let them escape to warp - so I'm collapsing subspace for a while until we can capture them later."'
"Clever move," Bren replied. "We have them outmatched as it is. As the Borg would say, resistance is futile."
Rojac pressed the fire command and watched as the brilliant flares fired off toward their targets. He then turned over control to the tactical officer as the timed detonations executed in unison around the attempting escapees. Zerphimi kept his eyes glued to his console as he reported, "It worked. A distortion field is preventing them from going to warp - us too."
"I don't plan on retreating." Rojac replied. "Arm quantum torpedoes, full spread on the fore. Reese give tactical all you can spare to targetting. Dior, come about eye-to-eye." Rojac ordered assuming his chair once again. "Take 'em out. Quick and clean."
On the Eagle...
"Quantum torpedoes - three spread. Fire!" Commander Typhon, CO of the Eagle, ordered through his respirator. Moments ago, the Prometheus had brought down the ventral shields of their mutual attacker and Typhon took the punch. Three torpedo's struck the underbelly of the Breen vessel and and sent rippling explosions through it's underbelly.
Typhon chuckled, his respirator making him sound like a dark lord of the sith. His hydration suit sloshed as he turned to tactical, "Send Colonel Hendricks my thanks on that one."
"Aye sir." The Bolian Lieutenant replied.
On the Prometheus...
Colonel Hendricks watched as the currently targeted Breen vessel was raked by high yield missiles and devastating Arclight fire from his ship. His grin ever predatory as the enemy's shields collapsed and the USS Eagle delivered the fatal blow with a barrage of torpedoes driving deep into the enemies hull.
"Incoming message from USS Eagle. 'Thanks for the opening.'" The Comms Officer said as the explosion died down on the holographic display in the centre of the bridge.
"Send a reply. 'Thanks for the fireworks display'" Hendricks said before turning to the Helm and Weapons Officers at the front of the Bridge. "Take us in, I want Captain Jankowski's men all set for their little ride into hell. Orbital Drop Pods prime for launch."

THe bolian nodded, but the vulcan could see the fear in his round eyes as they darted along his path. Henley patted his shoulder, and yelled something inaudible to Verek as the disruptor fire erupted behind him. Henley gave the signal, and the Marine Captain stepped up over the snow bank, opening fire on the breen positions. The other three combat specialists in his team did the same.
Feeling the heat of the blitz, the Breen commandoes took cover closer to the tower - all except one. The glinting of sunlight off of the alien's armored bodysuit caught the vulcan's superior vision. In an instant, his trained eyes held his rifle on target and pulled the trigger. But the damage was done. The orange beam caught the shoulder of the commando at the completion of a toss - and a grenade fell right into Henely and Jento's path.
"Get down!" Verek shouted. But it was too late. The resulting thermal explosion tossed the bodies of Henley and Jento high into the air, making their bodies crash with a sickeneing crunch much like thee sound of shoes stomping on wet snow. Verek quickly darted out toward the bodies of Jento and Henley, inviting another barrage of fire from the fortified breen troops. Verek quickly dove into the banks next to their position as the blizzard picked up. Wind blew snow right into the Chief's goggles, blinding him to the breen's movements. He jumped momentarily as he felt a hand rest on his shoulder, but he soon eased as he recognized Harper one of his comabt specialists.
"Captain," Harper said, "Jast and Groe are moving up the other side under the blizzard cover."
"Good." Verek said as he dug through Jento's pockets. "Take cover and provide suppressing fire on the breen position." Verek ordered. "I need to mark the target for the Lancer squadron."
"Aye sir." Harper acknowledged before taking position at the top of the hill.
Verek found his prize in Jento's shoulder sling. The primitive laser targeting marker hadn't been used in operation in more than a decade - but the harsh conditions of Canna II's eternal winter made it's use necessary. Sensor's couldn't produce accurate enoguh results in the environment for missile strikes to be effective. Verek aremd the device and targeted it's scope at the base of the tower - toward it's power supply station. A photon warhead there would flatten the tower and the surrounding breen fortifications.
"Verek to Lancer 1." The CSec called over the line. "Target Alpha is painted."
"I hear you." Came a reply, along with what sounded like thrashing hardcore metal bands in the background. Verek felt his right eyebrow raise in puzzlement. "Moving in."
It was only mere moments later that the Vulcan heard the scorching sounds overhead, and saw the sleek form of an aircraft painted purple with streaks of lightning fly over head. Seconds later, the tower erupted in bright light. The first antiproton emitter was down.

-------------------------
- Summary (by Bren and Rangi)
-------------------------
= Chimera Summary =
(IXUS)
The Joint Task force ambush a Breen warship but the USS Rapier is heavily damaged before the Breen ship flees. The USS Magellan is left to guard the Rapier and an away team from Chimera including the XO and CEO is sent to help. Jade compiles damage and repair reports for the captain. Gustav and Mimi indulge in some activity which causes Gustav's arm to fall off! Chimera preps for battle as her and the remainder of the Joint Task Force speed towards Canna III.
= UNITY Summary =
(Bren)
On Unity, Commodore Guzman welcomes Admiral Jefferson and Captain Trent Rodgers onboard the 1st Task Force HQ. In the Conference Room, they discuss the recent mobilisation of Romulan troops and the possibility that the Romulans may be aided by an unknown ally.
Meanwhile, 2Lt Mnemosyne Nyx is trying to shake a mysterious stalker that's following her along the promenade. She thinks for a moment that she's succeeded in shaking him, but then he unexpectedly catches up with her and attacks her.
In his ready room, Shane is contacted by Terek who has urgent news for the Task Force CO. It's a message from Rangi that was received and Shane realises that Harker is behind it. He orders Mumacik to guard Unity while he waits for Pakosii to prepare the Qashqai for departure.
In Quorum space, after being caught by Harker, Rangi convinces her captor that they were unable to send any messages from the defunct terminal in their hiding place; this is confirmed by one of his cronies. As punishment for her attempted escape, Harker has Rangi placed in a cell.

"Ok." She tightened her towel back in place and then continued what
she was doing. Her hands slid up his back and then she moved in a

finding a nice relax rhythm until she accidental brushed her fingers
over the place where his artificial arm was attached.
Gustav felt a short sharp electrical shock from his artificial arm
then felt light on his right side.
Thump!
He just looked down at the floor to see his arm laying there on the

Gustav said with a slight chuckle in his voice.

- Logging Guidelines
-------------------------
Logging:
The weekly logging deadline is at Midnight (12:00AM/00:00) GMT/UTC (19:00 EST); all logs received after the deadline will be counted for the following week. If you are pressed for time and would like a log to count for the previous week, but it is sent after the deadline, please send an email to the command team when you send the log so that we can make the corrections.
Please remember that all MAJOR plot changes need to be cleared with the command staff before a log goes through! You can do this by sending the command staff (chimera-command@ucip.org ) a log labeled with "Draft" tagged to the subject line. We'll typically let you know if it's approved within 24 to 48 hours, or tell you what might need to be modified before it's sent to the listserv.
When using other characters in your logs, please keep in mind that person's characteristics. Character information can be found on the UCIP website or the USS Chimera website (under CREW - just click on the Star Trek symbol next to the character's name). If you're still unsure how to interact with a character, then privately mail the person
involved, and I'm sure they'll be willing to help.
Conversely, if you feel that your character is being portrayed incorrectly by someone please contact them to try to work out an agreeable solution. Just keep in mind when logging to treat other characters the way you'd like them to treat you - with the respect due to any member of Starfleet who is a specialist in their field.
If you think your log may be going out of bounds, then please ask! If you are having problems finding things to write about or would just like some help with your log, please contact your department head or the command team. Remember, you don't always have to log about things relating to the main plot - logs that develop your character's
personality are encouraged! We're eager to help if you're having trouble; just email the command team (chimera-command@ucip.org).
