<<OOC: This is a back log set before the away team departed for the Hermes>>
=/\= USS Chimera - Main Engineering =/\=
Gustav was running around like a blue arsed fly trying to keep all the
ships systems working properly, of course he delegated a lot of the
work to others as there were to much for one man to work on, if it
wasn't enough that every system seemed to be affected by the storms
outside he had just received a request to modify a shuttle to go out
in the bad weather.
Kroitzer decided to work on the shuttle him self as he had been told
that the captain himself would be onboard so he quickly gathered some
of his most trusted and experienced subordinates into a team to help
work on the shuttle, after the team had collected they left for the
main shuttle bay on deck 16 leaving engineering in the trusted hands
of Lt JG Alan Walker.
Gustav was still reading the full orders on his way to the shuttle
bay, they said to prep a type 9 shuttle for departure by depolarising
the hull plaiting, as he approached the doors to the bay he knew that
just depolarising the hull wouldn't be enough to stop them becoming
fried officers so he decided on adding to the protection.
Upon looking over all four shuttles the CEO decided to use the USS
Serpent, as it was the one with the coolest sounding names.
The engineering team went to work straight away, most of the group
were concentrating on depolarising the hull while Gustav himself was
installing energy dissipaters to the major systems, these worked a
little like capacitors, storing energy but they release the stored
energy slowly so that the systems don't overload if there is a spike
to the system.
As he was working on installing the last dissipater he got a frantic
call on his comm from Alan Walker… well at least as frantic as Alan
ever got.
+taps+ "Walker to Kroitzer we have a major problem with the shields"
+taps+ "What's the problem" he replied while reaching up with a hydro spanner.
+taps+ "The constant pounding they are getting from the lightning out
side is producing a dangerous amount of energy that might feedback
causing the shield emitters to blow… and as you know that would be a
bad thing"
Gustav thought for a moment while still working the dissipater in
front of him when an idea struck him.
+taps+ "Let the energy build up happen then divert the power to the
main defector and channel it out into empty space".
+taps+ "Aye sir, Walker out".
Gustav was now helping the other team members finish up the work on
the hull after finishing the dissipaters about 30 minutes quicker than
he thought if would take, just as the modifications were complete
Captain Rojac and his entourage arrived.
