[USS Chimera] SD: 240904.16 Joint Duty Log, Capt. Cropa Rojac/MCapt. Anya Xerxes

[Ready Room - Deck One - USS Chimera NCC96899-C]

Anya approached the Captain's ready room with a fair amount of trepidation.  It wasn't dealing with the Captain or any senior officer that she was worried about, she had been in the military for far too long to be phased by that.  What worried her was the reasons she was being called in.  The possibilities were wide ranging from the Captain wanting advice on how to deal with the Erassian Alliance to Anya being removed from duty and detained for so called 'security' measures.

Cropa heard the chime and gave his usual call, allowing the petitioner to enter. He looked up to see Captain Xerxes enter his office, but not in her usual somewhat-cocky and confident demeanor. "Captain Xerxes." He greeted her plainly.

"Good Morning Captain Rojac.  You asked you see me sir?"  Anya said after entering and saluting.

"I did, Captain, but you seem to have a drop in morale. Is something troubling you?" He asked.

Anya gave a wan smile.  "I seem to find myself in the unenviable position of being stuck firmly between two empires butting heads.  If things go badly and I stay with Starfleet the Alliance will have me assassinated because I know too many of their secrets and if I go over to the Alliance Starfleet will likely do the same though off the books, and finally if I choose neither side both will hunt me down either as a liability to themselves or as a key to undermining their opponent.  So I guess the question I should ask is, has either Commander Ohmsford or Commodore Guzman requested you to arrest me?"

"You are in a precarious position, and I know Federation and Erassian relations are not the smoothest. Rest assured though, Captain. You have never done anything to betray my trust, and I will never treat you in a manner not befitting your prestige and service." He told her. "I called you here today not to isolate you from this mission, but to ask for your assistance. Your participation will be completely voluntary, but I feel your advice and particpiation during negotiations would be extremely beneficial for the realization of this mission's objectives. That is if you accept."

"Of course I accept Captain.  I don't see any better options for me to avoid certain death.  I have to warn you though you may not like some of the things I might say but as an Erassian I understand the Alliance better than any diplomatic staff or high ranking officers that may be along on this mission.  Plus some of the things I might say you might find odd so if you don't understand just ask and I can explain."  Anya replied a bit lighter but still not to her usual bouyant level.

"Excellent." Rojac replied. "Then turn the department over to Lieutenant Lanner for a few days. The negotiations will begin as soon as we arrive. I want you on the bridge at 1130 hours tomorrow morning. But one more thing, Captain."

Anya mentally winced at the thought of leaving her department under the control of her XO but there wasn't likely to be any fighter launches whilst in the Grand Banks anyway.  The electrical discharges would fry most fighters and the pilots regardless of shields and that was within the relative safety of the straights.  "Very well sir, what's the other thing?"

"I want you to see a counsellor this evening before we begin." Rojac said. "This is no doubt a stressful situation, and I need you with a clear head tomorrow. Either Ensign Hopeler or Commander Wellington will do; whomever you are more comfortable with."

{Oh Joy} Anya thought.  She couldn't really see how speaking to a Counselor was going to lessen the stress of impending certain death. "I'll look into it Captain."

"Thank you, Captain." Rojac said. "You are dismissed."
