Stephen Jacobs leaned to one side so that his own reflection
didnt stare back at him.
The fish inside the tank swam graciously past and he took a
few moments to appreciate their beauty before straightening
up and turning to the replicator.

He crossed the spacious room, deciding on his choice for
lunch and ordered a platter of Lappi and Stilton cheese but
specified crusty bread, well buttered and a glass of water
at room temperature.
He waited patiently for the meal to materialise then carried
it to his desk and placed it carefully on the left side. The
dull red leather chair creaked as he took his seat and
reached to pull the loaded tray nearer.

He lifted a slice of bread and bit into it causing flakes of
crust to fall back to the plate as he savoured the taste of
the butter. His eyes came to rest on a solitary padd and he
smiled to himself as he swallowed the bread.

{Right on time} he thought, reaching for a slice of cheese.{
A day earlier than asked for...as expected.}

He had read the report soon after it had arrived but had not
paid it further attention.
He had visited Bluethistle on the day the Lieutenant had
been admitted and on every alternate day since. He often sat
and talked to Ignatious and they had developed a deepening
friendship of sorts.

Stephen had heard about the horsemen and had agreed with
Ignatious that seeing them must be a very scary experience.
He also knew that Ignatious' brother kept horses but that
unlike his brother who was an accomplished rider, Ignatious
had a fear of the creatures.

Stephen enjoyed his cheese, looking now towards the fishtank
but thinking over the Lieutenants case.
Lunch over, Stephen made a decision and sent a single word
memo to Mnemosyme.

It said simply 'Equine'

She would probably make the connection on the next visit, he
told himself, for she seemed sharp enough and sighing, he
stood up from his place, returned the empty platter to the
replicator and checking the time, headed for the door.
He would tell Ignatious that the young lady who had visited
him yesterday, would like to come again and this time would
like to talk about horses.
