Stephen stood, arms behind his back and feet slightly apart,
looking out of the huge view port towards the new Starship
Chimera-C.

He thought her a beautiful sight and descriptive words came
unprompted to his mind as he watched the little worker bees
complete their attentions to the great vessel.
{ Awe inspiring, powerful, deadly, a saviour }
Chimera was all these things and more and words he had read
long ago surfaced again in his memory.
{ Beauty without vanity...strength without
insolence...courage without ferocitiy...and all the virtues
of man without his vices.}

Stephen smiled to himself. The last phrase didnt really fit
a Starship but the words referred to a dog, one that someone
had loved enough to carve an epitaph for. Captains loved
their ships in a similar way and engineers loved their
engines, so perhaps it was fitting after all.

He studied the picture before him until he knew every line,
every curve, every view port, every winking light,
everything.
The fourth ship to carry the name..he wondered what fate
awaited her. Would she die in glory or shame or perhaps she
would retire with a long and valiant history.
{Time will tell} he thought and turned away at last.

A faded and somewhat battered holdall lay on the seat where
he had left it sometime before. He sat down next to it,
opened the top and pulled out a couple of padds.
He often spent time in the viewing gallery and sometimes
brought minor work with him, occasionally feeling that his
spacious office was too cloying. Here, often with a view of
space, he had time to think and ponder.

He read the subject line of the first padd and laid it
aside, turning the second to check it was the one he sought.
It was.

Stretching out his long legs in front of him, he settled
back on the seat and read the report.
When he was done his expression showed a slight vein of
disappointment and he set about sending a responce to the
sender.

{Ahhh..I had expected more than that from you } he thought {
Ofcourse we know about the horses and now you do too but
where is the connection to his dream? Think deeper...}

He sent another one word memo to 2nd Lieutenant Mnemosyme
Nyx.

This time it said simply..'Romulans'
