[USS Chimera] 240905.23, [UNITY] Duty Log, Capt. Trent Rodgers and Cmdr. Rick Rodgers

=Tarangor/Aeran Shipyard=
=Aeran System=

"We're still looking at least another week and a half before we complete hull
repairs to the Honor," Lieutenant Proietti said during a brief meeting of senior
officers assigned to the shipyard.

"Any other ships scheduled for repairs here?" Rick asked.

"No, sir," an ensign spoke up. "The rest of the task force is still using alternate
facilities for the time being. Though that may change at a moment's notice."

Rick nodded, "Well, then. We should get fully running again later on this
afternoon. Until then, let focus on Honor. If not anything else, than meeting
adjourned."

The five other officers parted ways, leaving Rick alone in the office that was
also subbing as a conference room. As he looked over reports on a data PADD,
he barely noticed another person enter the room.

"Commander?"

"Commander, is it?" Rick said, not bothering to look up from the PADD. "When
you become so formal, especially around me?"

Trent took a couple of steps deeper into the office, looking around the room in
the process.

"So, I guess the rumor going around is true?" Rick asked, still focused on the
PADD.

"Unless you here for unscheduled social visit."

Trent didn't answer. He had a good idea what the rumor was.

Rick finally looked up at Trent.

"My brother get assigned to same starbase as me. Hell, he named XO. But for
some reason, he not tell me. Why that?"

"It was a last minute thing," Trent said.

"You were on starship for a couple of days. During that time, you not able to at
least send memo? Why not Sarah at least tell me?"

"Because I told Sarah that I had already talked to you about it," Trent said.

"Damn it, T! Other people on this starbase knew before I did. People that I not
even know. Why you not tell me?"

"Because I didn't want to make such a big deal out of it. I didn't exactly volunteer
for this job."

"Even so ..."

"I'm not discussing this with you, Ricky? Not now, anyhow. I just stopped by to tell
you that a new shipment for the shipyard has just arrived."

"I found about that on my own, too," Rick said.

Trent nodded. This was going to be awkward. There was no doubt about that.

"Well, I've got to get a few things in order," Trent said before moving to the door.

"You could stop by Mai and my quarters tonight. That is, if you can manage to take
the time."

"I might. Well see."

Rick nodded as Trent quickly walked out of the office. Moments later, the new XO
arrived in his office to find a message waiting for him on his computer from Shane.

"What in the ...?" Trent shook his head.

Just then, First Lieutenant Bannister, Trent's new aide/security detail entered the
room.

"Lieutenant, find out where the commodore is. I would like to speak to him before he
leaves the starbase."

Bannister nodded before leaving Trent alone again.

"Yeah, this job is going to be lots of fun," Trent muttered to himself before following
the marine out of the office.
