=/\= Runabout Gellifree – en-route to Risa =/\=
It felt so unnatural to be in civilian attire, but be at the helm of a runabout. He was wearing a sky blue shirt, with the top two buttons undone, and untucked from the beige cargo shorts he was wearing. The flip-flops on his feet also felt weird to a man who’d worn nothing but combat boots most of his life.
However, he supposed today was a day of changes for the future. After all, a few short hours ago, he’d got married to the most beautiful woman in the known universe, and she was now his, forever more. The envy his old comrades had had when they’d seen his bride, was part of the enjoyment.
They’d accosted him at the reception, calling him an old dog and a lucky bastard, for catching something so beautiful and young in his net. Chloe had absolutely radiated throughout the day, to the point she almost had a glowing aura around her. No guesses as for why though.
Chloe walked behind Richard, softly setting her hands on his shoulders. "Eta, love of mine?" She asked softly, looking over his shoulder at the controls. She had changed into two piece swimming attire as soon as they had boarded the runabout. She was excited for this trip to Risa, not because it was her first time there, but because she would be spending it with Richard. Chloe's suit tied over her neck and around her back, the top a dark blue a cloud pattern made with lighter patterns. Her bottom half which was covered by a cotton wrap matched, tying at her hips.
Richard smiled and turned to look at his wife. “About three hours.” He said. “Traffic permitting.” He smirked. “No Starfleet priority clearance when we’re dressed for the beach.”
"I like acting like a normal person now and then." She looked over the man who was now her husband... it felt odd for her to think that... that she was finally married... something that she honestly never saw her doing. But then she found Richard...
“Yes, its good to pretend to be something you’re not ever now and then.” He said, turning to face the monitor. “Keeps us remembering what we’re fighting for.” He pressed a few buttons, and then got out of the chair. “I don’t need to be at the helm for a wbile.” He said, moving to stand in front of Chloe, his hands resting on her hips.
She lightly kisses his lips as her hands rested on his chest. "Im going to make you wait untill were on Risa." She said, a teasing gling in her eyes.
“Fine with me, doesn’t stop me spending time with my wife though, does it?” He said, grinning. “There’s plenty else we can do.”
"No, it doesn't stop you from spending time with your wife." She said with a smile, liking how it sounded when he called her his wife. For the longest time she had been his, and she had been happy with just that, but it felt different to be his wife.
“So, what do you want to do?” He asked her. “There’s loads of games in the computer, and I brought my chess set. The normal 2D variant.” He grinned.
She knew how he liked playing chess, and it was something they hadn't done in a long while. "Sure." She said with a smile. "Let's."
“Alright.” Richard said, fishing out the chess board. “And what did you do on your first night of your honeymoon?” “Oh, we played chess.” He said, mocking a conversation with friends.
"It's not night, Richard. And I rather not have some of my first fond experiences as your wife to take place in a runabout." She said with a soft laugh taking a seat in the middle of the small runabout so they could sit across from each other. "By night we will have made it to Risa hopefully."
“Where we can consummate our marriage in the Risian
Chloe was already ahead of him at setting up her pieces on her side of the board. She gave a warm smile as he told her what he had done. "But it's not like we have not already been together physically." She told him, but she also remembered something else he promised after they married.
“Well, I wanted this one to be special. The first as man and wife.” He said, moving a pawn forward. “and for other reasons.”
"Im not on birth control anymore, Richard." She told him after moving a piece herself, looking up to his eyes. She was sure that he already knew that.
“Yes, I know.” Richard said. “I know how significant tonight is for you, and that I have a promise to fulfil.” He moved a knight out onto the board.
Chloe paused before she made her move, still watching Richard. "It's a promise Im not going to hold you too- if you don't want another child, I understand." After having met Sarah, his daughter from his first marriage, she could indeed understand.
Richard looked up at her from the board. “What makes you think I don’t want another child?” He asked. “Its something you really want, and something I really want.” He took her hand in his. “Chloe, I want to make babies with you. Lots of them. As many as you want.”
Her heart calmed at his words, giving his hand a soft squeeze. "Let's start with one." She said with a smile.
“Always a good place to start.” He nodded, wisely. He made his move on the chess board taking one of her pawns.
She gave a frown when one of her pawns was removed from the board. Making another move, her eyes went back to him again. "I more than want our child, Richard. I need one." It wasn't just that she wanted to have a child with Richard, but that she was in a stage of her life where her body urged for it.
“Need one?” He asked, making a counter move to block her original intention. “You sound like a 35 year old woman who needs to have a baby before she dries up!”
"I don't want to turn into that woman, Richard." She said raising an eyebrow.
Richard laughed. “No, you won’t.” He said. “I assure you that after this honeymoon, you’ll be pregnant.”
"I will be very disappointed if Im not." She said with a smile, thinking of the time that was going to be spent on Risa.
