[Bridge - Deck 1 - USS Chimera NCC 96899-C]
"Fire at will." Came the order from the Captain, and his crew wasted little time in the leap toward action.
<<Natalia - issue the attack pattern.>>
"Aye sir!" Shouted the bajoran Lieutenant at the helm. The deftly took
the Chimera into full impulse with a head on trajectory toward the
port warbird inviting a retalitiatory formation. At the 500k mark,
when the warbird began breaking off course heading in a nosedive, she
executed a corkscrew maneuver, opening the target up for a blast from
the lateral phaser arrays.
Michael punched a few commands and locked on to the Romulan ship. It
was a small and fast class, but not one that Michael recognized. He
fired the arrays and scored a hit that did minimal damage to them. "A
hit on their dorsal section Sir, minimal damage. This ship is much
more maneuverable than most Romulan ships."
"Break off for second wave." Rojac ordered. "Commander Zerphimi, I
need a detailed analysis of that warbird!"
"I'm working on it, Captain!" The science chief responded. The usual
sing-song cadence absent from his demeanor. "Telemetrics are streaming
in: unknown class, seems to be a newer scout level design. Forward
disruptors, extra engine capacity, and a small fighter compliment."
The main job for operations in a battle was to keep an eye on about
everything that was going on from sensors, weapons, shields and any
communication frequency even of that of the enemy if you get lucky and
find out what frequency they were using. While she was running through
the communications that the Chimera was picking up either the ones it
was sending out to the fighters or picking up the ones from the
fighters.
On one of the lower level frequencies Jade picked up a Romulan signal
tapping a few buttons she saved the frequency and started working on
decrypting it once she got it decrypted she listened, "Captain you
need to hear this." Jade said, "it's an Romulan distress call." Jade
said.
"On audio." Rojac ordered. Almost immediately the universal translator
played the sound byte across the birdge. +....under attack. Requesting
immediate reinforcements from waypoint alpha. I repeat, Federation
forces have engaged. We are under attack...+ Static reconsumed the
message as the frequency rotated into its next progression.
"Romulans don't send distress signals like that," Natalia said instantly.
"I think it's a distraction, Captain."
Rojac didn't need to reply. The anger in his eyes said it all for him.
Reinforcements would undoubtedly be in-bound soon, leaving the Chimera
minimum amounts of time with which to narrow the playing field. He
knew just what to do.
"Plan B. Lieutenant Howard, arm two veteron torpedoes. Lieutenant
Reese, prepare to deflector for a shield disruptor pulse."
The two officers hastily aknowledged their orders and set about to
their preparations. Meanwhile, Rojac saw the warbird make a law
defying about face with it's disruptors glowing vehemently. Like a
dragon, green fire erupted toward the Chimera.
"Brace for impact!" Rojac shouted. He grabbed for the nearest handrail
as the blast rocked the underbelly of the new battleship. A few
officers were startled and sent to the floor, but quickly regained
their composures and reassumed their positions. "Report!"
"Minor damage to the primary hull!" Natalia called out as she read the
incoming damage report text scrolling on the screen of her console.
"Structure integrity at 98.5% and holding; shields down 5% in the ventral
section. No medical reports."
"Captain!" Zerphimi shouted from science. "Romulan battleships
in-bound. They will be in firing range in one minute and ten seconds."
"Veteron Torpedos armed, Captain." Howard reported.
"Good. Have torpedo one target their propulsion systems, the second at
their bridge." The Captain ordered. "We'll only get one shot, make it
a fatal one." He turned to Reese at the Operations station. "Reese,
cover that gap in ventral shields. Transfer deflector control to the
XO at aux tactical."
Reese nodded and started tapping away at her console she first
transferred the deflector control over auxiliary tactical, so that
Trzetrzelewska could deal with that while she worked with the gaps in
the shielding. It took a few minuets but she was able to get the gaps
taken care of, but she would need to keep a constant eye on it to make
sure the gaps didn't come back or that weapons fire didn't create
more.
"Deflector is standing by; shield disruptor pulse armed," Natalia
"Helm. Come in at their four o'clock, full impulse." Rojac ordered.
"Someone tell Xerxes to steer clear and divert those incoming birds."
"Changing course, Captain! Full impulse." The bajoran Lieutenant cried
from helm. Almost immediately the fleeing romulan scoutship grew
larger and larger on the vessel as the Chimera's powerful impulse
engines bore dwon upon her. "Deflector range in three... two...
one..."
"Engaging deflector pulse!" Natalia shouted as she pressed the button that
delivered the weapon. The ship shuddered slightly as a shockwave emanated
from the Chimera's dual deflector and collided with the Romulan ship. A moment
later their shields were down. "Warbird shields are disabled!"
"Fire Mr. Howard!" Rojac shouted.
Within miliseconds of eachother, the green glowing munitions deployed from the Chiemra's lateral launcers and impacted their target with carnal ferocity. Almost immediately the singularity drive and the "beak" of the new Romulan scoutship erupted into a visceral blast of vetron particles sending a shockewave into the shields of the passing USS Chimera. The bridge crew was blinded momentarily by the fierceness of the blast, but quickly regained their focus upon Rojac's next words.
"Helm, bearing zero-nine-four, mark one-two-seven." Rojac ordered.
"Let's take down these battleships." Rojac said. He hoped that the
security teams on the outpost were fairing as well as the Chimera.
