[USS Chimera] SD 240909.03 | Joint Log | Maj. Lennox & 2Lt. Merau

=/\= Flight Deck =/\=

Chloe walked into the hanger deck among other pilots. She was wearing her pilot's jumpsuit, helment tucked under her arm. She the only woman among the pilots, which wasn't surprising. There were only few of them. She didn't see why, they were smaller and more compact than men and could fit better in the cockpits.

“Listen up pilots!” Major Lennox said, as he came across the flight deck. “Gather round me.”

Chloe was well as the other's stoped their talking as soon as the Major spoke up. Gathering round, their attention was on him. Chloe had a smile on her face, this was a driving force in her life. To fly.

“Right, we’ve got orders to fly to Norris Eight, in an air support capacity for Easy Company’s operations down there.” Lennox said, as the pilots formed a circle around him. He produced a padd that when he activated, created a small holo projection of the planet.

“Easy Company has been dropped about fifty klicks from their target on the planets surface. They will attempt to reach the communications outpost here, and secure it. If they require air support, they must first take out these surface to air plasma cannons. We cannot strike whilst those cannons are in operation.”

"Or we can just be witty and go around them." Chloe offered, then remeberd her place. "Sir."

“General Sharpe was very clear with his standing orders regarding taking no unnecessary risks.” Lennox said firmly. “We are not to endanger ourselves needlessly unless the situation on the ground changes significantly enough for the risk to be warranted.”

A few others muttered about her guts to speek up. Again she did so. "We could disable the grount to air plasma cannons easly from the air. It would have to be planed.... but it might be easier for us to do it than them." She said, her hands lightly held behind her back. Some of the pilots seemed to step back some so putting her in front of them.

“Lieutenant, when a two star general gives us an order, we follow it.” Major Lennox snapped. “We will follow our orders to the letter, as marines. There may be unforeseen complications with fighters swooping out of the air and destroying the cannons for the ground forces than we could possibly understand. That is why we don’t do things half-cocked, Lieutenant Merau.”

"I don't do things 'half-cocked.'" She said raising an eyebrow. "And like I said, if three or four of us went down to disable the cannons, we could do it. If more than that, yes it could cause problems." She seemed to be holding her ground, unlike most of the other pilots who would of backed out talking to this major. Her tone amazing stayed calm talking to him as he snaped. "Major." She added as an after thought.

“You’re going the right way to talking yourself out of this mission, Lieutenant Merau.” Lennox said, firmly. “Button it, or go back to your quarters.”

Chloe looked starght at the Major, not saying a word. The other officers seemed to be wondering if she actually had enough guts to open her mouth again, but she didn't say a word.

“Right then, with Lt. Merau’s permission, shall we get cracking?” Lennox said. “Any questions about the mission?”

Having faded into the middle of the pilots once again and not at the front, her soft voice was only heard by the pilots directly next to her. "Permission granted." escaped her lips. There was no way the Major could of heard her, but a few soft laughs were heard from the men, which quickly died down. "No Questions, Sir." Chloe said loudly this time.

“Alright then, mount up people!” He said. “Lieutenant Merau, wait behind a moment.”

Chloe waited as the others passed her by, her hands still held behind her back softly. "Major?" She asked after all the others had left.

“Lieutenant. You’re new to this outfit, so I’ll give you a bit of a heads up.” He said. “I won’t have any officer under my command question my orders, ever. I don’t care if the Colonel approves of you, you’re still in my squadron, and that means you follow my orders or I ship you out. Are we clear, Lieutenant?”

"Yes, Im new to this squadron and 'outfit'. But I don't think you want to ship me out before you see me fly." She said, seeming unintimadated by him. "Im one of the best you could hope of getting." She wasn't braging, she knew she could fly better than most.

“I don’t give a rats ass.” Major Lennox said. “You could fly better than god himself, and I wouldn’t give a flying f***. You question my orders again, and you’re out.”

"Yes, -Sir-." She said, still completly calm. Normally she was so easy to get along with, but something seemed to be rubbing her the wrong way. "If there isn't anything else, Sir, everyone else has already set off."

“No. Carry on.” He said, firmly.
