[USS Chimera] SD 240901.13 Joint Log Second LT. James Adams (ACSEC) & Master Chief Heath Johnson (MAA) & Captain Cropa Rojac(CO)

*** Outside Ready Room***

Master Chief Johnson looked over at Second Lieutenant James Adams and smiled at him, " Do not be so nervous!  You will do fine. After all, it is not your fault Jardan's in the ICU." Adams smiled back, " It's not that so much as it should be Ensign Cahira who should be reporting with you. Has anyone seen what has happened to her?" {Good Question,} thought Johnson, {She has not come out of her quarters since we left the starbase. What is going on?} "It does not matter so much, now. It is up to us to see the Captain, so it is what we are going to do."

There reception as they entered the Captain's inner sanctum was not as warm and genial as it usually was. Instead of a kind greeting and the usual offer of a replicated beverage, the Security personnel were accosted by an angrily asked question from a perturbed Cropa Rojac.

"Can either of you two tell me how the hell my Chief of Security ended up in sickbay with a stab wound to the torso?" Rojac yelled, standing up from his desk. Before any of them could respond however he continued his barrage and rounded his desk to stand and face the two brawny men. "How the hell does a Romulan prisoner get a weapon to stab with in the first place? Are you even watching these pointy-eared pieces of crap?"

"Sir! We did check them. Unfortunately, we did not do an internal scan for plastic weapons as we usually do not see that sort of thing from the Romulans. Afterwards, we did check and found several more on the others and they have been confiscated." As he said this, Johnson looked at adams and winced. He felt sorry for the new security officer, as he was not aware of the brig prisoners, having been in training excercises since reporting aboard.

Adams, however stood his ground." Well, sir, if Jardan had been so kind as to inform me of having the prisoners instead of sticking me in the simulators all this time, maybe I could have done something, such as do a more thorough security scan. We did rectify the situation. A better question would be, why did the Romulan not just kill him outright?"

"Are you passing the blame to your superior officer, Lieutenant?" Rojac asked, a look of surprise on his face. "Are you second guessing his judgement? Are you thinking that you are more competent than he?" Rojac leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms. "Wow. I had no idea I hired the wrong security chief." Rojac leaned forward with a face so grim it would scare a klingon into submission.

"Sarcasm aside, Lieutenant; you are in SSF because you are the best of the best and trained to be that way. You adapt to unexpected situations, and you follow your orders despite your respect for the senior officer giving them. I will not tolerate insubordination simply because you did not want to be stuck in a simulator."

" Aye, sir!" Adams inwardly winced( Here I go again. ) He still stood at attention and could not come up with a reply and so just remained silent.

"Despite your situation, we have vital security matters to attend to. Adams, your temporarily in charge of Security until Jardan is fit for duty again. I want a status report on my desk every three hours. As I'm sure Jardan will be ordered by the doctors to take some rest, you will be his errand boy running from one corner of the ship to the other while he administers the adminstrative paperwork of the department." Rojac turned to Johnson. "Chief, I want you to focus on the training for the upcoming mission. Aside from Jardan himself you have the most battleground experience in the department. It's an infiltration mission, so choose your team wisely? Understood?"

" Aye, sir. I have already an idea on who I want with me." Johnson reached for the mission planner and started to read. He looked up when Rojac spoke again.

"You're dismissed." Rojac reactivated his desktop and files of information littered the integrated display. "And one more thing gentlemen. From now on, beam the prisoner's meals onto the floor."

They both came to attention and saluted." Aye, sir."
