[USS Chimera] SD 240901.16 || JL || Commo Guzman (1TF CO) & Capt Chisulo (1TF Tac) ||

[Commodore's Office - SB:234 UNITY]

Captain Tedros Chisulo strode into the antechamber of the
Taskforce commander's office. He nodded to the Lieutenant
behind the desk and approached the guarded doors. He nodded
toward each of the armed marines and saluted, "Watkins,
Garrison." Being the former deputy to Commodore, he had
close contact with his personal security detail. And being a
former marine nocom himself, he held a special connection.
being on duty, the marines could do little more than smirk

back and salute as the Captain approached the doors.

None was to get to the Task Force Commander unchecked – be
it the Commodore's deputy, his girl friend or an Admiral.
Pakosii knew Chisulo of course, but sometimes things were
different then they appeared. However … Chisulo was a high
ranking officer of the task force staff and it was enough to
do the basic scan only to allow him to see the Commodore.
Pakosii's console confirmed that Chisulo was indeed a
human and that he was unarmed. He could proceed.

Chisulo paused in front of Guzman's desk and snapped a
salute. "We have arrived safely, Commodore. But what we
found I feel requires further investigation."

"Welcome back, Captain" Shane said and offered his and
for a shake. "I am glad you made it back without any
accidents. Please take a seat and elaborate your findings"

Chisulo pulled out a report on a padd and handed it over to
the Commodore.  "It appears the Klingons are allowing the
Romulans to set up a mining colony on Narenda VIII, where
there is a large deposit of duranium on record. The cease
fire seems tentative under the orders of the Klingon General
in the area. Relations seem shaky at best over the comms we
were able to intercept."

Shane sighed: "An alliance between the Romulans and
Klingons is a horror scenario for us now. The Federation
cant fight them both and even an non-agression pact would be
quite a blow for our military ambitions. But I am curious
about this affair, since the last time Klingons cooperated
with Romulans was during the times of the last chancellor
succession and under the cloak of the Durass family. I
wonder if the past repeats".  Looking at Chisulo, Shane
asked: "Is there a way to learn more about the particular
Klingon General? Unofficially of course …"

"I have a KDF contact stationed at Khitomer that may have
information on the General." Chisulo replied.

Nodding, Shane said: "That's very fortunate. I hope you
agree with me on the matter that this affair is of high
importance for this war … and maybe all of the federation.
We need to learn whats true about the Klingon – Romulan
relation and all there whereabouts about their cooperation
on Narenda VIII."

"I understand, sir." Chisulo replied cooly.

"Unfortunately" Shane said, "we do not have a SFI or
SSFI unit on the UNITY, so we need to gather all this
information on our own. I know that gathering INTEL isn't
your job, Captain, but since you've been involved in this
matter and it's your contact … I'd like to charge you
with te investigation mission"

"I was hoping you would say that, Commodore." Chisulo replied with a nod.

Smiling, Shane replied: "Very well, Captain. For the time
being Colonel PontBrilliant covers most tactical and strat.
Ops operation in our sector and our ships are in good hands
… so please don't worry about the Task Force."

"Aye, sir."

"You need a good vessel for your mission and I think the
Qashqai would do very well here, but unfortunately I
assigned her to Commander Omsford for some other mission.
Check with flight control here, but I doubt you will find
anything better then a cloaked Warhammer runabout available."

"With a few modifications to the payload, I believe the warhammer I used for the last mission will suffice." Chisulo replied.

"What support crew do you need, Captain?" Shane asked.

"A medic and an intelligence analyst should suffice, sir. Along with my Mission advisor, LtCmdr Faulkner." Chisulo reported.

The Commodore scratched his chin before replying: "Agreed.
Please depart as soon as possible and get back with those
information once you have them. I wish you much luck in your
mission, Captain."

"Thank you, sir."

"If there is nothing else, then you are dismissed"
