Alecto didn't bother reacting as the three new arrivals
joined her in a diamond formation. The sleek, black
forms slid through space with ease and whenever the
light caught them they appeared to have a polished
sheen to them. Alecto had to admit to herself that
she hadn't seen so many Hybrid Bowfighters since
the Liberation Battle where the Erassian Alliance
Second Fleet under the command of Viktor attacked
the stronghold of the GGCS Progenitor. Alecto had
been a part of the battle leading the team of Hybrids
that captured the Progenitor's Bridge. That has over
a year and a half ago and it seemed the Alliance was
finally easing up the travel restrictions placed on the
Hybrids. The lack of freedom up until now had been
understandable, you didn't leave valuable tools like
Hybrids where your enemies and sometimes just as
bad, your allies get at them.
"You're late Ryunosuke." Alecto said. It wasn't true
but it served as a customary greeting between the two
Hybrids, the result of a problematic mission many
years before.
"My sincerest apologies as always, Lady Alecto."
Ryunosuke said with more than a fair amount of
sarcasm in his voice. Whilst Alecto couldn't see his
face on the audio only communication she could tell
that he was grinning away.
Ryunosuke and the other two Hybrids Takeshi and
Asaka were not just hooking up with Alecto for her
little foray into Klingon space but had been assigned
to her as personal bodyguards. It wasn't really that
Alecto needed the protection on the ground as no
one Hybrid or otherwise could compete with her.
The real problem occurred in the air or space in this
case. Alecto may be near untouchable on the ground
but even she would admit that she was only a fair
pilot. She knew the basic skills for it but didn't really
have the mindset or the extensive training for it. The
others were different these were not Hybrid Assassins
like Alecto and Viktor but Hybrid Pilots engineered
and trained specially for the task.
Hybrid Pilots were somewhat of a rare breed within
the Hybrids having had their numbers decimated during
the Liberation Battle partly by Erassian Forces but mostly
from other Hybrid Pilots who were part of the rebellion
from GGC control. The was a lingering sense of
bitterness amongst the pilots that they had borne the brunt
of losses but they knew that with the Alliance they had the
possibility of building something better. Alecto guessed
that when King Asano had found out about the prospect of
the Alliance's Ambassadors being given bodyguards he
had volunteered the Hybrids as suitable candidates for the
position as in many cases they had superior skills, reflexes
and were far cheaper than using many Special Forces soldiers.
Alecto in particular was thought to be a target due to her
negotiation of the Mutual Defence Treaty.
"So what's our objective my Lady?" Ryunosuke said
inquisitively. All he had been told was to rendezvous
with Alecto at these coordinates and nothing else.
"Next we go to have a look around the Narendra System
and see what Romulans are doing in Klingon territory."
Alecto answered honestly.
