[USS Chimera] [Unity] SD240908.11 | Duty Log | 2LT R. Winters | PL-E

=/-\= Begin Log =/-\=

Location: First Platoon Barracks, Deck 312
Time: Shortly after deployment orders were issued [before Frankie's log]

"First Platoon! Listen up!"

Second Lieutenant Winters was standing on a chair at the front of the rectangular room that made up the platoon's living space, shouting so that all could hear, "We've just received our deployment orders!" Grab your gear and report to airlock twelve! The starship Titan will have the honor of taking us to Passada Station."

He stepped down off the chair and turned to Bull Randleman, who had himself been sitting on his bunk near the entrance to the barracks, "Gunny, get them moving. Double-time it."

Standing from his billet the boisterous man called out, "Alright, now! First and Second Squads, grab your packs and fall in!" As the men fell into a formation four wide and six deep, Randleman turned to the senior NCO of the group, "Sergeant Lipton, have these gentlemen double time it to the airlock. Get goin!"

"Column of files from the right to the left! Forward," the young sergeant called out after stepping to the side of the formation. "March!"

As the two dozen marines exited the room with full packs attached to their backs, Randleman turned to the third squad, who had been busy checking over their heavy repeating compression rifles. The repeating rifles were large enough that they could be mounted on a bipod to assist in the aiming of the weapon; it was also large enough that it could hooked up to a stand-alone generator instead of only relying on small power cells, allowing for a longer, denser stream of phase pulses. There were two large crates carrying these weapons near the bunks belonging to the last squad.

"Get on over to Titan and have'em beam your weapons to you," Randleman ordered, checking the labels on each case. Everything seemed to be in order for transport. "And don't forget your sidearms. If we get overrun I don't want you fellas to be left naked, hear me?"
There was a quick chorus of "yes, sirs" before the half-dozen men took off out the doorway into the corridor beyond.

Winters, still standing next to the door itself, let out a long sigh, "Well, that was easy enough."

"Everything's easy 'nuff when you got Easy on the job, Lieutenant," Randleman said as he walked through the door. "You'll figure that out in time, sir."

=/-\= Twenty Minutes Later...on the Titan... =/-\=

"Second Squad, report to deck nine! See Lieutenant Commander Jaxik there for your bunk assignments! Third Squad, you'll be on deck twelve; see Lieutenant (jg) Addison."

Dick and Denver had followed their marines as they double-timed it to the airlock. Upon arriving there Winters had been given a PADD with instructions, as well as bunking assignments for each of his three squads. "First Squad, you'll be on...deck fine. See me." He shot a glance over at Randleman, who returned it with a shrug. Both of them were staying on deck five, each in quarters with three others of the same basic position.

As they were finishing up getting situated and on their way to their various destinations, Winters spotted th'Laxonth approaching from the airlock, "I didn't think you'd be joining us out there, Nix. Kinda dangerous for a battalion officer to be out in the field."

"Which is exactly why I'm not going with you, actually," the Andorian replied, regret obvious on his blue-skinned face. His antennae were coiled into what Dick had learned was a symbol of anger and frustration. "The Major has made it very clear that I am to remain here on the station and supervise any further incoming intel from the front lines of the operation."

Before Winters could open his mouth Nix spat out, "Look, Dick, I really wish I was goin out there with you guys. To be stuck on the sidelines like this...it's not what I wanted."

Raising a hand to cut off any further comments, the Lieutenant shook his head and replied, "We'll be alright, Nix. Just make sure that intel stays up to date."

With that Winters pushed the PADD in his hand against the Andorian's chest and turned and took off down the corridor. He would see to the mens' needs, but then he figured it would be just about time to find some food. With all the excitement of the past 36 hours he really had no time to stop for much of anything. And there was bound to be a mess hall he could use around here someplace...
