[ Padassa Station - Quorum Space ]
Major Giellera Kinn hung upside down from the ceiling of her small room, her knees hooked around an exposed ventilation pipe that had proved to be rather sturdy when she had first examined it. Excellent for doing lift-ups, it was also useful in meditation. Meditating wasn't something that she often did, but over the last few weeks living with Klingons was trying her patience. It was her partly own fault. The Commodore had offered her quarters on the USS Qashqai, but she'd insisted she wanted to stay on the station. It allowed her more ease of movement and she felt it was important to have a senior Starfleet officer on the station.
With her eyes closed and her arms crossed over her chest, she breathed deeply in and out. A short while ago she'd been informed that the Klingon liaison was on his way, a Commander Kortag'h. Naturally she immediately accessed any and all information she could find about him. A decorated Klingon officer, he served as part of an officer exchange program with Starfleet a few years before, deployed with a group of security personnel in charge of guarding the Vice President of the UFP. This was before relations between the Empire and the Federation began its gradual breakdown shortly before the outbreak of the war. An heir of the house of Dok'Marr, he was more sympathetic to relations with the Federation than members of other Klingon houses, which was perhaps the reason he was being sent to Padassa. His acquaintance with Captain Chisulo and involvement at Narendra recently also proved that he could more or less be trusted.
It was a good thing he was coming, since Giella was starting to think that some of the Klingons were getting a bit out of hand, as Klingons usually did. While the Commodore was trying his best to keep them under control, she wasn't sure how long his health could take it. He'd either end up poisoned or with a daqtagh in his belly. The Klingons' rowdy behaviour was also scaring some of the more reserved Quorum inhabitants and certain sections of the station had to cordoned off for their safety. Needless to say all Romulan prisoners were also under Federation guard, to make sure they didn't accidentally run into a bat'leth.
The other diplomat they were waiting for was the official Quorum representative. What or whom it would be, she didn't know, but SubCommander Cevalas assured her that the person was on their way... approximately a week ago. Quorum ships were unfortunately very outdated compared to Federation technology, capable of achieving only a maximum of Warp 5 under strained conditions. This coupled with their simple way of living was no doubt the reason why it proved so easy for the Romulans to annex their space.
A moment later there was a knock on her door and Giella opened her eyes, staring at the blank, utilitarian walls of the room. "It's open," she responded, not bothering to move from her spot.
The door opened and a young sergeant entered, greeted by shock of straight blonde hair that hung down like a curtain from the ceiling. Glancing up, he noticed the Intel Advisor on her acrobatic perch. "Excuse me, Major, the Quorum ambassador has arrived."
"Thank you, Sergeant," Giella said and dismounted in one smooth motion, landing feet first on the floor in front of him. "Please notify the Commdore. Was there anything else?" she asked the astonished looking young Bajoran.
"No, ma'am," he said and left closing the door behind him.
Grabbing her uniform jacket off the bed, Giella quickly pulled it on and tied her hair back before heading out to join the greeting party.
