=U.S.S. Chimera=
A long time ago, Rick had become accustom to being a CEO on the
Chimera. Battles were a regular occurrence on the SSF ship, and when
the battle of Starbase 234 began, Rick showed little concern.
But, this was becoming no regular battle.
The intensity was greater than even the worst fighting Rick had been
involved with. Damage reports were coming across from just about
every deck. Rick was doing all he could to help keep the impulse
drive online so that the Chimera would be mobile. But that was
becoming more and more difficult, especially since he had to constantly
bypass the area that had been involved in the bombing earlier that had
caused considerable damage ... damage that would need weeks to
properly repair.
"Rick, we're losing shields!" Flores yelled.
"Can we transfer power?" Rick asked as he struggled to stand.
"Not enough to matter!"
Rick focused his attention on shield controls, knowing that they would
not last for long. They were simply taking too much of a pounding. A
lesser ship would have been overwhelmed long ago. Being tossed
about made his job that much more difficult.
"We've just lost shields!" Rick desperately tried to get them back online,
but for not, it was no use. There just wasn't enough power available.
Now, the Chimera was taking a severe beating.
"We've just lost deflectors!" Flores shouted.
"There's hull breaches on Decks 12, 25 and 33!" someone else yelled.
More damage reports came at Rick as numerous systems began to fail.
Gustav done his best to position the repair teams to areas that were
most critical, but they just didn't have enough teams available.
There was another explosion and Rick was tossed over a railing and
onto the deck.
"Rick!" Flores yelled.
"I'm alright," Rick said, dragging himself up, using the same railing for
support.
"Impulse drive is down!" a crewman explained just before his station
exploded, killing him in the process.
"Flores, take care of the impulse drive! Get it back online!" Rick ordered.
"I'm on it!" Flores responded, switching to another station.
"We have more hull breaches, Decks five, 18, 19 ..." a crewman stated.
"We've lost power to over half of the ship!" someone else screamed.
Rick considered his options, but knew that there were not that many
left to choose from. He and his people were losing their own battle
to keep the ship operational.
Before he could make his next move, he noticed several figures
appearing out of transporter beams.
"Romulans!" Rick yelled.
