[USS Chimera] SD:240810.27 Duty Log LtCmdr.MaiKai Rodgers,CMO

[OOC: Might be a bit of a back log :( Sorry for the long wait]

"Commander ... well, I had no idea you felt this way..." The Head Nurse, Lindsay Joy, was lying in the CMO's arms as Mai was knelt in a bad position on the floor of Main Sickbay holding up her friend.

"Get ... off ... me - now," Mai said in between gritted teeth and pauses because she felt as though she could tear her best friend's head off. For one: she didn't find the joke funny and two: thanks to the couple rattles and rolls of the ship, Mai had managed to catch Lindsay, but end up on the floor herself and now that her legs were bent in a way she didn't think she could, MaiKai was feeling some pain from scrunched up joints.

Lindsay hopped up only causing Mai a sharp bit of pain in the process. She held out her hand to her CMO. Mai looked at the outstretched offer and grimaced.

"Come on. I was only kidding," Lindsay smiled down at her hopeful. MaiKai shrugged and took her hand in hers and slowly pulled herself up with stability from Joy.

"Yeah..." Mai brushed herself off. "What were we doing?" Mai asked seriously.

"You tell me; you're the CMO," Lindsay replied, but Mai only glared at her.

"We checked in on the morgue and, before the fall, we were talking about the influx of people in the makeshift sickbays amongst the cargo bays," Lindsay stated.

"Yes, we really do need to do something about that. We'll have AMOs, nurses, and ourselves helping to move the well off out". Mai walked over a few feet away to pick up her tricorder that fell out of her hand and skidded across the floor.

"I know, I know. We need to get people back to duty... Is there something else bothering you? I mean, I know you said we'll talk about your personal life later, but maybe it's needed".

Mai shook her head, "It's not that right now. I have this weird vibe. Like something's going to go wrong.."

"And why do you think that?" Lindsay asked with a teasing voice. She relished in mocking her best friend though she knew it annoyed her at best.

"Because anytime I feel like I have Sickbay running smoothly without too much to worry about, something happens and poof! my hard earned work destroyed". Mai gestured the poof! with her hands when she said it. Like a volcano blew it's top.

Lindsay giggled.

"What the hell is your problem?" Mai asked even more sternly.

Lindsay composed herself to answer MaiKai, "You said poof!" and then she started giggling again.

"Whatever. Laugh all you want." Mai started to walk off at a brisk pace towards her office.

"You are such a kill joy. Lighten up. Would ya?" Lindsay shook her head.

Mai pivoted so she was only about a foot from Joy's face. "You have a husband, a child, and a whole department that's scattered around decks right now to worry about and I'll tell you to lighten up. Does that work for you Joy?"

Lindsay gulped the lump that built in her throat. "That's your problem. You can't live in the moment. You always have to build anxieties about the future".

Mai stared at Lindsay, not breaking eye contact, "I don't live in the moment because I'm too busy protecting the ones I might lose".

The environment of Sickbay grew still and quiet. Mai noticed an AMO not standing too far away watching the verbal tennis match. She couldn't remember the person's name.

Then the ship shook yet once again. The AMO caught the corner of a biobed and propped themselves against it in order to pull themselves back up.

Mai had fallen into to Lindsay and now vice-versa: Lindsay was knocked to the ground and holding MaiKai.

Mai tried to look up at Lindsay, "I never did buy you that drink madam..." Mai smirked.

Lindsay punched Rodgers in the arm as she pushed the CMO off of her so they could both find their grounds.

Lindsay spoke to Mai, "It's time to start moving those patients around, Mai".

Mai nodded. "you there," she pointed to the nearest AMO, "I need you to check the systems of all the cargo bays that were made into sickbays. I need to know which ones, if any, are experiencing any malfunctions". Turning back to the Lieutenant, "Lindsay, time to start working on moving people up and out of here".
