====== Main Bridge, USS Chimera

Dexter was manning auxiliary operations console – what
became a habit since Reese took over operations. She manned
the main ops console and virtually all important business
went through her console. Dexter's attention and skills
were spend on 'important' things like a broken
replicator or missing water in a shower.
Suddenly and out of nowhere, some apparently serious
business reached his ears.
+taps+ "Commander Wellington to operations, I'm stuck in a
lift and staying put unless told otherwise."
Martin looked over at Reese who seemed to be busy with other
things and tapped a button. "Operations here, Commander.
What happened?"
+taps+ "The lift stopped and seemed to falter bit then
started off again, but has stopped and doesn't seem to be
going anywhere."
Nodding to himself, Dexter swiftly checked Wellington's
position. Deck 10, section 4. Lift number 7. "Hold on
Commander, an engineering team will arrive at your position
shortly …" he said while tapping his console.
Athena gave a vague response and sat down to wait and then
pulled off her tunic as things seemed to heat up.
"Hmmmm" escaped from Martin's lips.
As she came awake, "V..." She was confused and wiped the
sweat from her face.
"Commander Wellington" Dexter said with urge in his
voice, "I am detecting a critical failure at the lift
system. You have to get out of the lift! Immediately!"
Athena crawled to the door and tried to pry the door open
with her fingers.
Not aware what was happening to Athena, Dexter urged:
"Commander, the battle damaged some of the isolinear chips
in the lifts command system. I am registering a huge
temperate rise in the lift's command systems – they
might explode anytime!"
The doors budge open just a bit letting in a rush of cool
breeze that whipped over Athena's body causing her to shiver
as the sweat tried to dry with the gust of air.
Dexter tapped a button and said: "Ops to transporter room
one, emergency transport of Commander Wellington to the
sickbay!"
+TAPS+ Transporter room one here, transporters are off line

{Damn} Dexter thought. "Commander Wellington, can you
leave the lift alone?"
Athena licked her dry lips and shivered again, "What," she
asked the voice that beckoned her name as she wiped sweat
off her face again. She used the small opening to pull
herself up and began trying to pull the one side one
direction with both hands.
Dexter did not understand her right, but hoped that
Wellington was doing her best to leave the lift. He alarmed
the security, but he knew that they will arrive at the spot
in no less then two – three minutes. His console showed
that the explosion in the turbolift was imminent. The only
thing he could do was reroute all power from the turbo
lift's systems and buy the commander about half a minute.
"Commander Wellington, if you can hear me, leave the lift
now! You have less then 30 seconds before its circuits will
explode" said Dexter knowing that power reroute made that
even the light in the turbo lift went off.
Suddenly the door gave way and Athena rolled out of the
lift. Thud!! She landed hard as the floor of the lift
seemed to be about three feet higher than the deck floor.
The air in her lungs seemed to be ripped from her chest with
her landing.
It was hardly more then a dozen of seconds when the circuits
were unable to endure the heat and exploded in a reddish
fireball. It escaped through the open lift's door, but
luckily scorched the counselor only slightly.
"Commander Wellington, can you hear me?!" Dexter cried,
"security and medial are on their way. They should arrive
within a minute."

Athena was grateful she had the presence of mind to roll across the corridor from the lift.
Then – finally, the cavalry arrived and two medics knelt
down to Athena and tended to her.
