=/\= Deck 8 Science Facilities, USS Chimera C =/\=
With the cataloging and scanning of the debris finished Jade needed a
more expert eye to look at the scans, so she decided to head down to
the main science facilities on deck 8 this was another first for her
in all of her career she never really had to deal with scientist
expect for to protect them on missions. Walking into the facility it
was very much like the ODCC with many monitors, but the main
differences was the amount of labs they had on either side of the
facility.
Lt Commander Ra-Zerphimi was sitting in his office busy reading
through the latest reports from his various sub-department heads. He
had a team working on analysing every last sensor log in order to
learn more about the Romulan ship they encountered and to try and find
anything that could give them a clue or an insight or anything that
would keep them one step ahead of the Romulans.
Jade had to stop someone, "excuse me where can I find the CSci
officer?" Jade asked.
"He's in that office down there." The ensign said pointing to an
office on the far wall.
"Thanks." Jade said starting to head to the office once she made it to
the office and hit the chime and waited for a response to come in.
"Enter," the Efrosian scientist said and looked up as the Chief Ops
officer entered. "Leftenant, it's a surprise to see you here. How may
I help you?"
"Will my ops team and some deck crew just finished cataloging and
scanning the debris from the outpost, but I need more of an expert eye
to take a look at the scans." Jade said walking up to the desk.
"Certainly, please take a seat," Ra-Zerphimi said.
Taking a seat Jade put the tablet on the table and slid it to the
Commander said, "and I was hoping that or someone on your team could
take a look at them?" Jade asked.
Ra-Zerphimi took the padd and looked closely at the spectral scans of
the outpost's hull fragments. The analysis showed in detail the damage
done by the Romulan disruptors and revealed just how they've been
improved.
"It appears there is a large amount of antiproton radiation remaining
on the fragments that were hit by disruptor fire," Zerphimi said as he
studied the results. "Antiprotons are very powerful. Romulan
disruptors tend to leave behind traces of antiproton radiation, but
this is more than is usually detected."
"How much more is more?" Jade asked not liking the sound of how much
more powerful these disruptors are. She has seen first hand of much
damage a Romulan disruptor can cause.
"High levels of antiprotons are difficult to control with precision
and requires strong weapons infrastructure, so they must have spent
some time researching upgrades for these weapons," the Chief Science
Officer said.
"How much power would they need to control that amount of
antiprotons?" Jade asked knowing if they knew how much power they
would need they could potentially gain knowledge some other
technologies that the Romulans might have.
"There's something else here as well," Zerphimi interrupted her. "But
I can't quite identify the signature. I'll have to do a little more
investigating."
"Alright do as much investigating as you need. The actual debris is in
cargo bay 3 if you need to see them. We're going to start a second
round of scans with different techniques to make sure we get
everything we need from the debris." Jade said.
Zerphimi nodded. "Thank you, lieutenant. As for the power... I'm not
sure quite how much exactly would be needed, but they would need to
invest a lot in containment systems, which means one breach of those
systems could blow up the whole ship. The Romulans' technology seem to
be growing more powerful, but also seemingly more unstable."
"Alright thank you Commander I'll make sure the Captain sees your
initial report. We may be able to use their new disruptors against
them." Jade said thinking out loud learning where they keep those
containment systems would be very valuable information knowing that
one hit would destroy a ship.
